Agreed. I honestly would have paid to have the B&O option on the XLT if such a thing existed. I mean, I have a better system then that now that I've upgraded but it was a lot of work to get there vs just ordering a B&O option if it existed.
I like the analogy here.
To be honest, if I had the B&O system that came in the Lariat I probably would have never upgraded the system at all. Heck, I haven't put an aftermarket system in a car in about 20 years until now. I use to have shit boxes in my late teens and early 20s that had a more...
It's definitely about the sound quality for me. These are the stock speakers that I pulled from the truck. They leave a lot to be desired. Just your typical cheaper speakers.
That's pretty much exactly how I felt. Volume level was ok but it sounded hollow and lacked any detail in the high end. I listen to the music on 20 and that's plenty of volume for me. In fact the replacement speakers play a little louder then stock at the same volume level and I believe this is...
I tapped into the front speakers under the head unit behind the vents as I've read that the rear speakers have limited low end frequency from the factory head unit. Basically they cut the bass out for the rear due to the speakers being on 4".
No real difference with the seat up vs down from my ears atleast. I suppose it wouldn't really make much difference since it's only low tones from the sub which travel well.
I gotta get me some of that fabric tape. It really cleans things up.
Agreed about the Alpine amp. From all the research I've done it seems like a gem of an amp. I ran Alpine stuff in my cars 25 years ago and they've never let me down.
I keep the seat down. I made the custom grille you see in the photo to keep the underside of the seat from touching the sub.
The door speakers are pretty simple to replace and if you order through Crutchfield they will throw in the speaker mounting adapters and wire adapters for free. Literally...
The stock system is really not great and after the first 2 weeks I just couldn't take it anymore so I did some shopping. Went with the popular choice of Kicker 46CSC674 in the doors and Kicker 46CSC44 in the rear pillars. That improved the sound quality immensely but I still needed to fill out...
Gotcha. Makes sense now. I'll have to see if I have enough wire to get over to that panel. Ran all my wires up the passenger side since the amp is on that side but not sure if I have enough slack to get me over to the driver's side under the dash.
Is the first pic in the Mav or another vehicle? I was thinking you would just remove the knob and then the nut and mount it via the nut but that pic shows a screw so now I'm thinking you can't mount it via the nut maybe.
Interesting. Didn't realize there wasn't that much space back there. Thought it would be pretty empty.
I was going to mount mine beside the traction control button as my XLT has a blank button/spot but not sure if that piece comes out. I don't personally like the typical spot either because it...
Nice setup. Is that bass knob the Alpine RUX-KNOB.2 by any chance? I think it is but not sure. If so, did you have a hard time getting the plastic knob off to mount it like that? Just upgraded my system but haven't mounted the knob yet as I am unsure of the best location to put it. I really like...
That's right too. Hooking up to the rears would mess with balancing capability. I'll also be using a remote bass level knob on the sub amp to allow precise control.
This site has been a irreplaceable resource so far. I've read dozens, if not hundreds of threads here which has saved me a lot of greif or errors I'm sure.
My next task is installing a 10" sub under the rear seat and I would have just tapped into the rear speakers but because I've read info on...
Thanks for the reply. I ended up swapping in the speakers I listed above and they are a remarkable improvement over stock. Honestly, night and day difference like others have described. Stock speakers were so muffled.
This just happened to my drivers side one. Thought I broke it but I'll have to give this a try tomorrow and see if I can get that sucker out of there.
Edit* Just confirmed that's it's not actually broken and resetting this clip piece onto the trim piece fixed the issue.
