Be it that you like Hagar over Roth, at least we can agree that there's no better place to listen to Halen, than from the driver's seat of a Ford truck.
I plan on doing the same with my current Ranger, although lately I am wondering about how long it'll hold up.
My Ranger was a phenomenal truck...
Congrats on the Silverado; I am thinking of the Ram Classic 1500 for the same reasons; the new Ranger is a nice truck, but the Ram is shorter, and...
Your situation describes mine perfectly.
I agree wholeheartedly.
I don't understand it either, which has me thinking that Ford is grappling to bring the Maverick to market.
Ford's approach has me yawning.
Granted, some may argue that because "nothing official has come out yet, there's no reason to be disappointed." Even so, to me, Ford's approach to the Maverick's rollout is almost as bad as what Van Halen fans faced when awaiting a new album.
(Well, not that...
Way too much product overlap.
Way too much...
Maverick length: 200" (?)
F-150 standard cab: 205"
Ranger: 210"

Perfectly sized last gen Ranger: 189" long; 72" wide
Appreciate your comments; I will have to give the Badlands trim a look.
Hopefully, Ford will offer the Maverick the option of Badlands clearance. Thing is, I want a base Maverick, not an uplevel model.
Now that you mention it, that Tacoma sounds like it'd be a helluva fun truck to drive. I am tall, and if not for the seating position, I would have included the Tacoma in my search.

There's an unconfirmed rumor floating around, that the next generation Ranger will get the Bronco's seven...
If that's your thing, I respect that. I doubt that the buyer's of Rabbits or Brats loaded their beds up with heavy items, but the aforementioned vehicles were not marketed as trucks. But with the Maverick, they're marketing it as a truck. I hope Ford offers a dealer installed lift option.
Aside from price, my main motivating factor behind the Maverick is her size, and simplicity (hopefully). For example: I like the torsion beam rear suspension on the Maverick, and I much prefer the Maverick's construction over the Ridgeline.
And as much as this is an individual thing, I think...
I wish that Ford would offer a manual in the Maverick; although there maybe an exception or two, manuals simply last much longer; I will not be persuaded otherwise.
I like driving a manual much better too, and yes, I used to brave NYC traffic on a daily basis with a manual.
The Duratec is an excellent engine, and it, in itself, would seal the deal with the Maverick.
If Ford goes with the 1.5, and I think that they will, I might take a look at the Santa Cruz.
The Santa Cruz not only has a HUGE plus in the powertrain department, but it has a LOT more ground clearance than the Maverick.
I do like the Maverick's styling better however, but for longevity, the Hyundai likely gets the nod.
The other thing: a side by side comparison shows the Maverick...
True, but in the above photo's the Maverick looks to be similarly sized to the Explorer - at least to my eyes. But you're right; it's best to reserve judgement until we see the hard specs.
Appreciate your well thought out answer, but I am still disappointed at the size; too much overlap.
The Maverick is around 200 inches long; the standard cab F150 is 205" long, and the Ranger is 210" long.
Thankfully, the Maverick won't be too wide.
I am glad that Ford is bringing a cheap...
Am I the only poster who thought: "What in the world? How big is this thing?"
The Ranger was supposed to be a "back to the basics" idea, but Ford then scrapped that idea.
Next, the Maverick was supposed to be "back to the basics," but now they've eschewed a regular cab model. Fine, but a...
