Another poster got a close up picture of the HVAC vents on the XL; they have a black chrome finish...very handsome; I had never seen that detail before.
The XL is understated yet handsome.
Thanks so much for the clarification: I was thinking "how can this thing ride smooth, and carry a load in the bed at the same time?"
I have an 01 Ranger, and I love her ride, although the truck does get pitched around on twisting, bumpy, roads, from time to time.
Again...thanks for the write...
Thank you for your detailed review; the A/C louvers on the XL are finished in a black chrome finish, which your pictures illustrate; I have never noticed this detail before. I much prefer this finish to the XLT's orange.
I am disappointed in your comments about the ride; did it feel like a car...
I'm hoping that someone who went to the Maverick reveal might peep up and comment :)
We've seen other close up photo's of everything but the underside of the vehicle; unitbody leaks showed what appeared to be frame rails under the bed. I would love to see that up close.
I mean absolutely no disrespect, and I too, have posted my own threads and thoughts about the Maverick's features, but this thread I do not understand: I am not being snarky or ugly, but the Maverick is configured as it's configured; Ford's not changing it.
Yeah, I too would rather have a two...
Me as well; the rear of the truck looked to have integrated frame rails; I would love to see a better shot of those.
(To the OP: thanks for offering to take, and pass along, pics of whatever you see)
The Maverick is very handsome. I still can't get over the interior: it's simple, functional, durable, and easy to clean.
The prototype Santa Cruz was very attractive, but the finished product is far from my liking.
I really have no idea of what's in Ford's mindspace, and for people to say "Ford's been doing trucks forever, so they know what they're doing..." - that's not my sentiment.
Yes, Ford engineering knows what they're doing, but Ford marketing leaves me scratching my head sometimes.
Case in point...
Good point; the direction of Ford's styling is not to my liking either. Sans the front end, I really like the Maverick. Spy photos of the 2023 Ranger has me wondering, and not in a good way.
Thank you Sir
That's what's odd to me: it has the ground clearance, numerically, but visually from...
Fair point; I would be shopping the Ranger if not for the higher price, but my main complaint about the Ranger is her size. The Ranger is simply too long, and I wish that it were narrower.
Your points are fair. Again...my thing is a visual thing, and I wondered if I were off.
I suppose...
I really like the Maverick. I like the simple, low cost, easy to clean and durable looking interior; I like her 200" length; her reasonably narrow body. I like her starting price; I like the utility of the bed, and the underneath storage feature of the rear bench seat. I like that Ford built...
Glad to see so many people agreeing; the automotive market has, for far too long, been flush with unnecessary nonsense and bling.
But get ready for it: the same publications that (will) laud the Maverick's 20k starting price, will in the same breathe complain about "low rent plastics."
I'm...
After viewing a 22 minute in depth video of the Maverick somewhere, whose source I cannot recall, I was struck at the cheap, hard, utilitarian, plastic used in the interior. And do you wanna know what?
I LOVE IT!!!
I have LONG bemoaned the overengineered, overstyled, interiors that most new...
A cursory search on Ford's HF35 transmission reveals A LOT of PROBLEMS.
I don't like what I am reading; the internet abounds with bad info, much as the unit that was put into the Taurus - a notorious failure.
That is my only concern about the powertrain; I drive my vehicles into the ground. So is this a traditional automatic, or what? What might be the lifespan of an ECVT?
I dunno about that; the old Ranger's drivetrains were bulletproof. If Ford packages the Maverick properly (as a vehicle that starts off as both low cost and simple), and eschews the silly "lifestyle vehicle" tilt, they might actually have something here.
