1.5 FWD fuel economy is solid, AWD is decent.
That 2.0 fuel economy is...less than stellar. If i decide I don't want AWD, I will be going with the Hybrid FWD as long as the hybrid doesn't interfere with cabin volume, ground clearance or towing/payload in any meaningful way.
EDIT: Can anybody...
The 2.0 EB makes more torque at 1,000 RPM than my 2.0 Duratec makes at roughly 4.5K. Modern engine technology is truly insane.
I was originally thinking I'd be perfectly satisfied in the 1.5, but I might stretch my budget a bit for that 2.0.......
Wow, guess I didn't even think about that. Carmakers do so love to charge $1-2K for simple stuff. I'd pretty much only want a nice paint and maybe heated seats if thats not locked to a trim level.
I wonder what kind of options will be available that would allow you to check boxes until you're almost $10K over base price? That seems nuts.
Anyway, XLT AWD for me, please!
"Sources familiar with _____"
Hmm, where have we heard that before?
not saying I'm not excited, just saying to temper your expectations, cause "sources familiar with" is journalist-ese for "This is probably BS but you'll click anyway"
Can't say I disagree, I think Ford is unwise to just leave the Maverick project in the dark. There's been enough press and buzz that I genuinely doubt they'd cancel it at this point, but they've done nothing to get people hyped for this thing since that original factory "leak" (let's be honest...
Why would anyone believe the rumor that they've cancelled the Maverick? Don't they know how astronomically expensive it is to develop a new car? The fact that you're even seeing the camo'd up test mules means Ford has already sunk an unbelievable amount of money into the Maverick, there's no way...
Looking forward to watching the "bUt ItS nOt A rEaL tRuCk!!" people complain about this. Thing will probably easily tow more than your average person will ever put behind it
If they sell a nice deep green, it's an instant buy for me. Barring that, either Cyber Orange or that blue that was on the tester spotted in Cali. I'm colorblind and mistake black and dark blues pretty often, but there's no mistaking that blue!
So tired of black/white/grey/silver. Live a...
I just want a bed, without all the other truck things that come with the bed. I don't need BOF construction, I don't need 7K+ towing capacity, I don't really need 4x4, I don't want some behemoth for when I'm parking in tight spots. BUT, I move big, bulky stuff around pretty often, namely an 8x10...
Good to hear some positive thoughts about the hybrid powertrain! I personally can't stand that slipping feeling I get from most CVTs, but as I understand, the eCVT is nothing like the traditional belt-and-pulley setup. Rather, it's two separate electric motors connected in-line with the output...
Since it's looking like there's no hope for a manual offering, I'm starting to consider the hybrid. Why not get better MPGs if they're all automatics anyway? Plus, you get a small power and torque bump over the base powertrain which is always appreciated.
My main concern is how it's gonna feel...
