This whole hybrid thing is new to me, as I never thought I would be in the market for one.
It appears that another cost savings of having a hybrid is less maintenance. As I understand it, brakes last longer on hybrids and oil changes are less frequent. Over time, the savings could add up. I...
You bring up an interesting point. Maybe we have a math wiz on here that could show us the figures on a Lariat with every possible option (to include a more expensive color) at invoice minus the "discount." Then add the $899 doc fee and see how much the actual savings are (if any).

The fog lights and front parking sensors might be really useful. (Ford, are you reading this?)
The model for El Salvador comes with a rack for your AR-15. You don't want to leave home without it...
I actually like the clearance lights, but I'm not too keen on the idea of drilling holes in a brand new truck. Assuming that they are functional, I wonder how they are wired in. A night time photo would be great.
Ouch! This is really disappointing for you, I'm sure. Hopefully, it's an easy fix. Reminds me of a commercial paint contractor who told me that "a patch is a patch." Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
Shouldn't have any problem getting a Ford dealer parts salesman to order the splash guards for you. Recently, I worked at a Ford dealership where the parts guys got paid a whopping $45.00 per day, plus commission. Obviously, any sale is important to them.
