  1. 3800 lb trailer, 467 lb tongue weight

I was going to contradict on the tongue weight, as every single aftermarket hitch for the Maverick is rated for 4,000/600, except the EcoHitch which is rated 4,500/675, but no, Ford does indeed say 400 for tongue. Definitely an underrating, as having closer to 15% is better than being under...
  2. Perfect fit waterproof storage box for Maverick bed

I would be interested to know if that box will fit between the tailgate and the load bar shown in this picture. I use a 2 x 6 in that position at the moment, and my measurement has it as a tight fit, but again that seam…
  3. Perfect fit waterproof storage box for Maverick bed

I would like to know as well, but I suspect the discrepancy comes down to the box being measured at the seam, which sits above the wheel wells at least as far as I can tell from the pictures.
  4. What changes to Maverick engineering would you like for the next evolution?

Actually, if they hadn't stuffed a bunch of crap behind the rear seat back, they could have engineered a passthrough similar to the Subaru Baja, and if they made it something like 50" wide for the typical 4x8 panels of material, (which I think would be possible on the Maverick, unlike the Baja...
  5. mice getting into passenger compartment - 2023 Maverick Hybrid...

My guess would be the vent flap. Behind the rear seat, down low if memory serves. I can see a mouse getting through there fairly easily.
  6. Oil Analysis Companies

In my experience with Blackstone, they only advise on oil longevity if you check the box on the ticket, which probably most of us who send in samples do. If you have a specific concern about dilution, you may want to note that on the slip regardless of who you send it to. This next sample I...
  7. Dream Maverick, Let’s build it.

If done right, additional power and fuel economy. Esoterically, I’m highly inclined towards an engine that has a lack of negative torque.
  8. Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

I’m fine with appropriate noises for their corresponding actions. The horn is simply not mild enough for use as a ā€œhey you left me onā€ warning tone, nor for simple locking.
  9. Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

Still an abomination that I demand the engineer responsible convert to flagilism to atone for.
  10. Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

ForScan. I disabled that straight away because cars that honk on lock are the devil, and whoever thought that cars should honk when locked are crazy people deserving of straight jackets. 😃 Several other manufacturers have demonstrated that you can indeed have a muted little chirp if you want...
  11. Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

No, as in fill up, leave in ready mode for 8 hours, engine cycles on and off, fill up again, 1.5 gallons used. This was with AC OFF when I simply needed power to accessories. The power draw of the accessories was less than half of the 20 amps you could get through the 7-pin, and still the...
  12. Dream Maverick, Let’s build it.

The 2.0L hybrid I could get behind, but the 8-speed? You are throwing away the best part of the hybrid. I went out of my way to not buy the F-150 hybrid because it’s married to a 10r80 for some bizarre reason I cannot fathom. For a plugin, I’d want a bit more, actually, something on the order...
  13. Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

I think you will find that if you ignore the ā€œno key detectedā€ message, that you can just take the key with you and lock the door as normal with it in ready mode.
  14. Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

If your trailer is appropriately wired, then the 12 V line from the truck should charge the house batteries in the trailer while driving down the road, however, I think you will find the juice is not worth the squeezing when it comes to running overnight, as it won’t transfer enough power to run...
  15. MPG Differences for Hybrid, warm to cold, WHY does your MPG drop?

The only thing I would disagree with is the steering wheel and seat heat. Not that they don't draw power, of course, but the amount of power they draw is so minuscule as to not be worth noting, as in the tens of watts. Don't believe me? Go check out one of those bench warmer seat pads that...
  16. Adding external charger to hybrid battery.

I think it was in this thread, but I've noted before parking above 40% SoC, and overnight I'll wind up in forced recharge (around 33%) immediately upon restarting, vs. every single time I end up with a high state of charge (around 65%), it rises overnight rather than fall.
  17. Portable jump starter

I'll do a +1 for NOCO, I bought the full size one for semi-trucks, (Edit: the 4250A) and it overspun the starter on a Buick LeSabre with the Series II V6. A tip to make your jump boxes last longer: if they have USB ports, use them. Run them down, and charge them at least once a week...
  18. Adding external charger to hybrid battery.

Sounds like exactly the time to waste a bunch of energy when parked doing some emissions junk, but no, it does that when the HVB SoC is already low.
  19. Upgrade 2K Tow Package to 4K Tow Package?

I would expect a modern automatic to not need extra cooling when towing, as the modern automatics I have experience with, (granted, limited to a 2019 Ranger), are hyper aggressive about engaging the TC lockup. I haven't experienced one while it was towing, but I would assume it holds lockup as...
  20. Adding external charger to hybrid battery.

I mean, in those rare cases (my aforementioned Prius with a dead engine), it can be helpful, but it's a decidedly narrow use case. Incidentally, if anyone does try that, get out your volt meter, measure the exact voltage of the battery to the hundredths, then set your power supply to the same...
