  1. Longest EB oil change interval

HeyBales pointed out this thread to me, I'm a hybrid owner. I'm curious if any here have done oil sample reports? Blackstone labs is the favorite if you've never done one, they like to go in depth on the (potential) meaning if something is a bit off. Last change for me at 26,726 on the oil...
  2. Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

The mix may be a bit different, but largely yes. This truck is being used as my primary source of income.
  3. Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

Yes, though it does it so fast it's impossible for us to notice, in about 300ms or so, the generator spins the engine to ~1,000 RPM and then adds spark and fuel and backs off the generator at the same moment. You can experience what you can of this with a helper, or if you have good hearing...
  4. Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

It really, really shouldn't. The OLM is doing math that has no basis in reality, on something that needs to be properly tested to accurately reflect. Here's my recent oil sample report, with 26,726 on the oil: After this oil change on 4-23, the truck sat for a week getting the battery...
  5. Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

Mileage is essentially meaningless, it likely calculates it through some combination of cold starts, high revs, and how many miles are on each trip.
  6. Hybrid vs gasoline

The thing people don't seem to realize about electric and hybrid batteries: you don't generally replace them like you do a 12V battery. Either they fail on one end of the bath tub curve, (high failures when new and when at extreme end of service life when most vehicles from it's era are already...
  7. Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

I haven't paid much attention to the interval, but I am fairly certain I have reset it as low as 5k miles on a few occasions. It counts down much faster when you're towing.
  8. Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

I do cross-country hauling, so my OLM gets reset multiple times between oil changes, just because the message is annoying. (The OLM count down is accelerated when doing the high revs that towing demands). At ~25k interval now, (which is only ~3 months), and oil analysis continues to come back...
  9. NEW! Universal SS10 LED Chase Light | Diode Dynamics

Why is the Knight Rider theme suddenly playing in my head?
  10. Lunging type action when braking.

An update, the truck finally threw a code, P0B24 “hybrid battery A voltage unstable“, got it to the dealership with 99,188 miles, and the battery is being replaced under warranty. I haven’t talked with the mechanic yet, but I suspect it is not the entire battery pack, but rather just the...
  11. Whats heaviest boat you have towed? Any slightly over the 4kTow rating?

I would probably try that at a launch, but I have seen some jackass hang that out the back of a 350 to clear the overhang of a bed camper, to haul a 25 foot cargo trailer. I’m clearly no stranger to the forbidden tow, but even I have limits.
  12. Whats heaviest boat you have towed? Any slightly over the 4kTow rating?

Most boats are not that aerodynamic, strangely. This center console weighed 6,300 on the scales, and I pulled it partly through the Smokeys
  13. Hybrid thoughts

The old adage was “no replacement for displacement“.
  14. Lunging type action when braking.

Ahh, so I added Hybrid Batt Volts to my ScanGauge readout, and every time it does this, the battery is rapidly climbing to 250V, at which point the “circuit breaker” trips. When it does this, I also experience a super narrow electric window on the EV coach, as if it doesn’t think the battery...
  15. Blackstone Labs Oil Analysis Comparison at 10k Miles

This would be a habit of Blackstone, if all numbers look peachy, pick a number 2-4k ahead of the mileage on this report. Source: Blackstone Joe of the Slick Talk podcast
  16. Need to pull trailer with 2026 Maverick Lariat 4k tow

Durability of the transmission isn't the limiting factor, the motors are, and they simply de-rate when they over heat. And travel trailers suck extra special compared to boats (even heavier ones), and even empty cargo trailers. Not sure why, but they just have extra sway in any wind. ETA: I...
  17. Lunging type action when braking.

No, this is different than the transition from regen to brakes, it doesn't even transition to brakes because the pedal is too lightly pressed, and it happens at higher speeds. In addition, the EV coach shows nothing of this, whereas at 70% SoC it does. At 70% SoC, or before, normally it will...
  18. Lunging type action when braking.

I am experiencing the same in my ‘25, and the EV coach does not show it, it acts like nothing has happened, but because I run a ScanGauge, I can tell it is dumping the regen, and rather abruptly. My Prius used to do the same if something required it, high SoC, battery temperature, etc, but this...
  19. Who's got one!?!?

No, my insurance rates are high because I let them live. Dead men make no claims...
  20. Who's got one!?!?

Extreme damage to the other vehicle being a feature, and not a bug, in my book. I want a cow catcher, but I'll call it the stupid catcher. Cows are more intelligent than some of the people on the roads.
