Has to be initiated from the screen. I believe it’s in general, reset. Be warned though that this will disable FordPass if you have it setup. Once the master reset is complete, go back to settings and go to mobile apps, FordPass and make sure that at least notifications are enabled. You should...
So try this! This website was awesome and a life saver in regards to figuring this out. It will decode the sync 3 as built and should help translate it to sync 4. The wireless CarPlay issue sounds like you accidentally activated the Wi-Fi in the as built which breaks wireless app projection...
1. Let me know when you are ready to program and I can send the beta build I have. The normal build will not work.
2. Unfortunately I don’t know of a video to show…! I am here to help with specific questions though!
Yea not really sure what happened with the first unit. The nav unit that I have now was a brand new one that was never configured so you will likely be fine. Could have been a bad software load on the first unit or just the non nav vs nav.
Yes if you already have sync 3, you just need the sync 4 APIM. There is a slight change you will have to make to the APIM connector (removing pins 53 and 54) but that is easy and reversible.
Extended license is required. They provide free 2 month extended licenses if you request one. Not sure if they are still doing that though given current events.
So that’s the weird part. Wi-Fi is working or else wireless CarPlay would not function (wireless CarPlay uses a direct Wi-Fi connection) but I was not able to get it to see any Wi-Fi networks. My guess is that the sync 4 APIM gets its network connection from the TCU.
To get back to the...
The official how to is live... This should provide everyone with the information they need to complete one of these swaps. Programming unfortunately got more complicated due to current events (Forscan is Russian in origin) but there are other options out there in case you are not comfortable...
Programming....
In order to program Sync 4, a new version of Forscan is needed. Considering Forscan is Russian in origin, I would not expect any additional support or releases any time soon though. I still have access to the .exe of the test build that I was provided that is fully functional...
Attached are the wiring diagrams required to create the adapter harness...
APIM Connector
ACM Connector 1 (Existing ACM connector, Black)
ACM Connector 2 (Additional ACM connector for APIM to ACM communication, Grey)

This thread is meant to serve as the how to thread for Sync 4 swaps into XL and XLT Mavericks. I will list the parts required and custom wiring required in order to have a functioning system. Main parts required are going to be the ACM (radio) and APIM (sync module). Keep in mind that this swap...
So with Ford part numbers, the first block is a vehicle specific code. That’s why there is an L vs N (mav eco vs mav hybrid), the second block is the actual component part number, and the third block is the component revision.
Well that all depends on how much you value seamless wireless CarPlay. That’s about the only major difference between 3 and 4 at the 8” screen level. Since you have a lariat, you would just need the APIM at around $300. You would need to remove two pins from your current APIM connector and then...
The wireless charging pad is crazy expensive from Ford and none have popped on eBay yet so I haven’t tried yet. The wiring would be easy. Mounting it might require a new console…
Ok so after alot of testing/trial and error over the weekend, I think I can safely say I have Sync 4 working perfectly in the Maverick. Only Sync 4 features not working are Wifi (OTA updates) and Nav. I can enable wifi but it doesn't see any wifi networks and breaks wireless CarPlay and Android...
