I've actually had more close calls with pedestrians due to being blinded by other drivers headlights than not seeing the pedestrians with my own headlights. Your eyes adjust to the dark, but when someone shines a bright light at them it takes a second or two for them to adjust back.
The problem is that a study like this doesn't take into account the crashes that are caused by blinding LED headlights. Of course single-vehicle nighttime crash rates would drop with brighter bulbs. It illuminates more of the road for you. The issue is the other cars are being literally blinded...
Mine does the same thing but my dealer won't fix it since they "can't reproduce it." Won't even document it. Guess its just another issue that they're hoping won't catastrophically break before 32k miles.
Exactly. ICE engines are horribly inefficient compared to electrical generation and transmission. And that's before energy losses due to braking, idling, and climate control. Plus electric can be generated from both cheaper and greener sources.
Our next car is going to be an EV, not because I'm...
For the first two model years (22,23), the demand for Mavericks was greater than what Ford could produce. Dealers got allocated trucks based on a complex algorithm but one of the factors was how many orders they had outstanding. Some dealers like Granger ran promotions like this to pump up their...
It really is. OP is either too young or chooses not to remember how bad smog used to be in the cities. There were days where you were told to stay inside because the air quality was so bad. Concrete would literally melt away because the rain was so acidic. There was a hole in the ozone layer...
I just can't imagine it being cheaper to make the body panel larger and not just make the plastic grill fill that space, which would've looked 100x better IMO
Wouldn't be the first time. Ford did the same thing with the Focus and Fiesta. <2016 had the PowerShift transmission which was prone to TCM failures and clutches that wear out. After 2016 they switched to a traditional automatic. They extended the TCM warranty to 10 years/150k miles, but the...
Holy shit, that is ridiculous! My $16k Fiesta had ball joints that were a separate piece. There is no reason a $30k truck built for mild off-road use shouldn't have replaceable ball joints!
Please report to the NTSB about these axle issues. The more people that complain, the more likely they are to force Ford into doing a recall and developing a proper fix.
Ford is trying to put the blame on lift kits, but people on stock lifts are running into issues. Lots of dealers are ignoring...
If you're planning on towing the girlfriends car with the Maverick, I wouldn't attempt to tow it that far. I looked into using my Maverick to tow my step-daughter's car to the mechanic when it was having issues and decided against it. And that was a little Ford Fiesta hatchback.
A vehicle...
A lot of people don't consider the cumulative effects of mitigations like this and Auto Start/Stop. They think, "Its 1MPG/12HP, is it really saving the earth?" when the reality is over tens of thousands of cars these little improvements make a big difference.
I said mid-range, not mid-sized.
2024 Toyota RAV4 AWD LE is $31400 and qualifies for 3.99% APR for 48 months, so cheaper than Mav. Plus will have better resale.
2024 Honda Ridgeline RTL $42500 vs Maverick Lariat w/moonroof @ 39,500. Only a $3k difference gets you a larger bed and 1k lbs more...
Exactly. The original pricing on the Maverick put it on par with mid-range SUVs. With the price increase, I can buy an SUV with more bells and whistles AND a trailer to do truck things.
Also the pricing isn't that far off of mid-sized trucks or used full-size trucks.
A 2wd Ranger starts at $32k. A 2wd F-150 starts at $36k
The Maverick starts at $24k. It is the people's car already. You're never going to see a <$20k truck ever again because of inflation.
For example, in 2000, the Ford Ranger's base MSRP was $12k (probably the Mav's closest competitor for...
I had my 2023 AWD Ecoboost in two weeks ago for a state inspection and while I had it in I asked the dealer to look at a noise coming from the front end. I told them it sounded like a wheel bearing going bad but they told me that the tires were "chopped" from not being rotated. I only have 22k...
