No, that is the procedure for a conventional automatic. Ford's procedure says to a) turn the steering all the way to the left for easier access to the fill plug. b) run the engine for one minute. c) shut the engine off, wait five minutes, then remove the fill plug to check the level.

This is a situation where only the driver's door locks, the other three remain unlocked.

Yup, it continues to happen to me, but very infrequently. As I said in my later posts, I'm convinced it's a design issue, in that the lock is too close to the handle. You wind up locking it accidentally when pushing the door open.
