Nice miata, OP. I think I am at over 15 miatas in my life now. That 9lives wang is pretty cool. I really doubt that steel trailer is only 1,400 lbs, though. I paid a premium for an Futura aluminum double axle trailer and it is 1,500 lbs.

Welcome! Do you have pics of the trailer or even hooked up to your truck? 14.5 mpg through hilly terrain seems fantastic for something with that much wind resistance.

Well, this sucks. My truck was built back on 2/28, but just now shipped. ETA 4/15 - 4/19. That misses both of the two big trips I wanted to use it for. That also lands it after the tariff complication can become a factor.

Tire and wheel technology changing doesn’t change the fact bigger diameter wheels and tires weigh more, given equivalent construction methods. They get bigger and bigger for styling reasons and to accomodate bigger brakes. Especially if the brakes are carbon ceramic.

Yeah, you are right and the stuff you quoted is wrong. Bigger diameter wheels pretty much always weigh more, given equivalent construction methods and materials.

Absolutely wrong. Significant downforce is very noticeable at 50-60 mph.

Why don't you just measure them and put the issue to bed? LBC is right in his observation that the different rear suspension type is the most logical explanation for the rear differences.

What kind of mpg have you seen while towing with the 2025?

Since the AWD now has the same rear suspension as the 22-24 AWD Ecoboosts, any lowering springs designed for those should work the same for your '25 AWD hybrid.

You have never noticed worse mpg when you drive in very cold temperatures? This is pretty much universal with any vehicle.

Even if that is true, it still very slightly beat the ecoboost in the old test. The old EB test was also in much warmer weather. We all know what very cold temps do to mpg.

I stand corrected! That thing looks pretty cool. I imagine it also is put on that driver side because the engineers knew the passenger side back there would have the 12V battery and they didn't want to make two different models of vault. So, to OP, if it fit the previous Mav, it will definitely...
