It seems the Ford notification is quite buggy. I only received an email for confirmation of my order. No other messages - VIN assigned or when it was scheduled. The only way I found out I was scheduled was by getting my VIN from my dealer and checking the tracker (which can also be off)...

My guess would be the driver can adjust the volume with steering wheel controls and that would allow the passenger to adjust audio. Having the backup steering close to driver would be better in the fewer times it gets used and it seems to utilize the infotainment screen pretty heavily.
