This sent me down a rabbit hole.
Bizarrely, when I put my Lobo VIN in, the website doesn't refer to it as a Lobo. In fact, I have yet to find any parts listing that mentions Lobo. Some of them mention "Sport", "Sport 2", "Super Sport", "HD" or "with handling suspension". Makes me wonder if...
I guess a point of clarification here is necessary...
Because of the difference in transmissions, the 2-3 shift in a Lobo 7-speed is effectively the 3-4 shift in any other 8-speed Maverick.
I only experience this harshness at WOT acceleration in Lobo mode on the 2-3 shift. It doesn't happen...
My wife's then-new 2025 Honda Odyssey had a seatbelt sensor that died a month or two into ownership. It took two trips to the dealership and a total of 12 hours of sitting in the waiting room for them to fix it. This problem isn't unique to Ford dealerships.
Curious if anybody else has experienced this in their Lobo.
In Lobo mode, on a WOT acceleration run, the 1-2 shift is fine but the 2-3 shift is very harsh. It feels like the ECU is pulling a bunch of throttle right before the gear change, causing the truck to jerk. If you've ever accidentally...
Everybody starts clutching their pearls when auto OEMs use plastic in the engine pay, but modern polymers are so good that it makes a lot of sense to. They're lighter, won't corrode over time, don't transmit heat (great for intake manifolds), can have NVH benefits, and can reduce costs...
I've done bulk mulch once (in an F-150) and IMHO bags are better for the typical suburban homeowner. Bags are just so much easier to move and position around the yard.
I don't hate it, but IMHO they should have just kept eruption green or given us another shade of green, like olive or lime. The Maverick was already available in two different blues (velocity and azure gray)... It didn't need another one.
I've always been curious how the OEMs decide what...
The rear end in the Focus RS was a GKN "Twinster" unit and the one in the Tremor/Lobo is a Dana "AdvanTEK" product. They are similar technologies but different products from different manufacturers. I think this misconception started with some of the early reviews of the Tremor (and later...
As popular as the hybrid option is, the Ecoboost still accounts for 40-45% of Maverick sales. Right, wrong or indifferent, some of us are willing to sacrifice some MPG for the performance and driving experience the turbo drivetrain offers. If the Maverick only came in Hybrid, I'd almost...
A hybrid probably isn't well suited to the low speed, high torque demands of an of road application...? At the very least, the current hybrid drivetrain in the Maverick wouldn't be able to provide the same driving experience most buyers are looking for in the Tremor (and Lobo, for that matter)...
I got my '26 Lobo at the end of February. I absolutely love this little truck. If anything, I think most of the big name automotive media outlets undersold it. With a single vehicle, you can drop the kids off at school, go to an autocross event, and then stop by the hardware store on the way...
I looked it up just now. C&D tested a 2022 FX4 at 5.9 0-60 and 1/4-Mile 14.5 sec @ 95 mph. They later tested a '25 Lobo and got 0-60 in 5.8 but the exact same 1/4 mile performance. C&D does a 1 foot rollout in their acceleration testing- not sure if Motor Trend does the same...
