I've noticed a new noise lately, but only when backing up! It's a rubbing, metallic sound that stops as soon as switch gears. I'm taking it in to the dealer just in case its transmission related or ??? Anyone else experience this? And no, it's not the beep...beep...beep tone in reverse! lol

I would take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it. The Hybrid system has an 8 year/100k mile warranty.

FWIW, the Hybrid does not have a "reverse gear." The electric traction motor just reverses direction when you select R on the shift selector.
The gasoline engine never powers the truck when in Reverse. It will come on though, to charge your HV battery, if it needs charging.

You may have some rust on the rear brake rotors. If so, make a couple of fast stops from 50 mph or so and see if this does away with the noise. Be sure and do this in a low traffic area so you don't get hit from behind.

That's interesting.

I'll try that!

I have just experienced this noise and only when backing out of my garage and driveway. I have a 25 FWD Hybrid. When I arrive at my work (about 2 miles away) it doesn't make that noise when backing up. Also doesn't when I leave work (8 hrs later). This morning (day 5 of the noise) It doesn't seem as loud, though it is still doing it. Are you experiencing it after your repair @Mavis Blue

We get a noise like that if our Edge gets too dirty. We live on a gravel road and dirt and gravel bits get caught in the rear brakes. The noise is very alarming but it goes away after a car wash.

I am not the person who had a repair done.

I haven't heard the noise since the repair was completed
Good to know. I didn't have the noise this morning. Weird too, warm weather, noise, turned cold again and no noise. I'm keeping an eye on it and have printed out your work order. If the noise returns, I'm giving them a call. I only have 477 miles on my 2025 Mav.
