I need to jump my Maverick. No problem, hood release will not release, dealer replaced hood release once before. Being a Sunday, how does one get the hood open to jump the Maverick with a broken hood release?

I need to get it open today, as Monday I have to work and it is my only transportation.

I once "MacGyver-ed" enough juice (I left lights on) to start a car by pulling a bulb outside the vehicle - attached some wires to the empty socket and then the jumper cables to them.

 I'm afraid those days are gone with the newer car / current systems.

Pulling the inside hood release twice should release the hood. There is no latch/lever under the hood.

When you jump start it DO NOT clip the negative jumper cable to the battery post. There should be a grounding post on the right side of the engine compartment or find another large bolt on the body to attach the negative cable. Attaching anything to the negative battery post messes up the Battery Management System's monitoring of the battery +/- level of charge and the Mav system won't know the actual state of the battery. The positive to the positive post of the battery is okay.

The inside release is what is broke.

I had the same issue. The cable came out of it’s holder at the latch release handle. A YT video helped me out.

The hood release is electric not manual?

Thanks, found that and got it open. Now waiting for roadside since my jump pack isn't enough.

I am curious b/c the video solution refers to hood struts as the cause and you didn't indicate you have hood struts. Do you?

As far as fixing the problem the YouTube video was very informative.

I do have hood struts, I have not had a problem yet, but in hindsight, I wouldn't bother adding them.
