What is it about the Maverick that made you decide it vs the Santa Cruz?
I'm not the original guy you replied to but lets see, compared to the Maverick the Santa Cruz:
- Will likely have a base price that's too much
- Gets mediocre fuel economy with both engines
- Has a smaller bed and a MUCH smaller payload capacity
- Has a "don't get me dirty!" interior filled with gloss black plastic, leather, etc.
- Is an absolute abomination of automotive design. Seriously, I want whatever these auto journalists are smoking when I hear them call the Santa Cruz "stylish".

I agree with most of that, though “technically“ the Santa Cruz has a higher payload capability overall when considering the cabin and occupants as part of the payload, its cargo bed is more limited however compared to the Maverick.

Color-wise, I had no choice. I ordered the Silver. Since giving up my 2-car garage condo 2 years ago, and moving to my apartment WITHOUT COVERED PARKING, I have to go with a light color, and I don't like white. My last two cars have been silver, and I have been very happy with them for both heat and cleanliness (silver doesn't show the dust like the darker colors). I am chomping at the bit to get my Maverick.

I'm looking forward to seeing them start to appear on the northern part of the 215 in Las Vegas. It's part of a vehicle test route that loops from I-15 southbound (and possibly from US93 Northbound from the Arizona Test Tracks) up to US 95 Northbound through Beatty and Tonopah.

We see tons of Michigan Manufacturer plates going through there in wrapped and naked vehicles. The trucks usually tow a test trailer with pig weights bolted to the floor.

I haven't seen a Maverick yet, but the whole family is at DefCon 3 to keep an eye out for them.

I saw what I believe was a heavily camouflaged Santa Fe a month or so ago on 15 just north of Vegas.

Is THAT what my tonneau cover is going to look like? I bought the "soft" cover. Am anxious to know what the tonneau is going to be.

You can see what the soft cover looks like in THIS thread.

That’s the hard roll up. The soft roll up looks like this photo.

And we're certain that the soft cover for the Maverick B&P isn't the soft trifold? I ask only because the pricing for that (trifold) is closer to the accessories catalog pricing than that of the soft rolling version. If it's just that soft roller I could easily see aftermarket (or from the Ford catalog) offering much sturdier options after build and potentially cheaper too.

(As always, apologies if this question is stupid.)

I only see three options on the build sheet: soft roll up, hard tri-fold (a hard tri-fold is usually vinyl covered), and hard roll up. The aftermarket will have less expensive options. With winter happening either shortly after delivery or in full force during delivery, my decision was to get the factory soft roll up because I want the protection immediately, not when the aftermarket finally gets around to making a Maverick unit.

Gotcha. Maybe I was putting too much into the B&P (accessory guide and DORA) "soft folding" cover nomenclature - should those have read "roll-up" instead? Maybe you're looking at a doc I've missed? Appreciate your feedback.

Looking at same docs you are, I’m just using the common terminology for that type of cover (at least in this part of the country). I think Ford has added to the confusion by not having detailed photos in the B&P, on fact, as you know, there are no photos at all.
