I have had my 23 Maverick for 11 months now. It has just over 9000 miles.
I've taken three long trips. Everything is all good, except the recalls.
I had two of them taken care of at my first oil change, and now there are
two more. The newest one has no fix, so nothing I can do about it yet.
So far the Maverick is a great little truck, but the recalls are unacceptable.
Ford should give some sort of compensation for this. I know that they won't,
but this makes me not want to buy Ford in the future.

I just checked with NHTSA, and my VIN shows four past-due recalls. I actually had to replace my battery at 16,000 miles recently. I think that was related to the latest battery recall. Not sure about compensation but certainly better outreach and loaner cars would help.

Hahaha. I guess you should call your attorney and get something going!

2023 recalls:
  1. Honda: 6,334,825
  2. Ford: 6,152,614
  3. Kia America: 3,110,447
  4. Chrysler: 2,732,398
  5. General Motors: 2,021,033
  6. Nissan North America: 1,804,443
  7. Mercedes-Benz USA: 478,173
  8. Volkswagen Group of America: 453,763
  9. BMW of North America: 340,249
  10. Daimler Trucks North America: 261,959
Why would you be compensated for a free repair that hasn't caused any harm, loss, or damages? Do you honestly think that recalls don't happen? You are complaining about recalls on what is still effectively a new model vehicle. Standard practice is you "never buy" a new model. You give them a few years to work out the issues.

Would you complain if you used your warranty? Would you demand compensation?

Any purchase, especially major, comes with some acceptance of "risk", in this case you risk getting a free repair.

I don't mind the recalls; what really bothered me was the 2 check engine lights. 1st was just for a computer update, but the 2nd was the "heat exchanger" (ie small rad) for the hybrid battery. But Ford replaced the rad at no cost; just 3 days without my Mav. The only nagging issue is the crap 12v battery; which has not yet failed.

To me seeing recalls says the company is recognizing design and build problems. That doesn’t scare me off. I also never buy the first year of any vehicles, even firsts of a new generation. Sometimes the second generation is better, sometimes it creates more recalls.

Look under the hood of a new model/generation vehicle and you will see a lot of QC stickers and QC crayon markings. Look under the hood of that same vehicle around mid-cycle refresh and you see a lot fewer stickers and marks. As they have fine tuned their manufacturing by that point.

The markings on many a bolt or nut and body always makes me wonder.
Are they like doing minimum torque and seeing if it loosens up by the end of the production line?
uh, I'm betting that's not nearly as shaky as actual driving. If it is, that could be concerning.

Or maybe I should look better, see if those marks are on items they think owner will touch - so they want proof of being messed with in case it comes up for warranty.

I've never worked with 1-time use bolts/nuts (that I'm aware of) - maybe that, does only the repair manual point those out, or they are labeled as such?

As I understand, It could be as simple as the fuse box was mounted wonky and needed corrected to missing components. Even components that fail during testing phases of the assembly process.

Any time you buy a first-year vehicle theres going to be recalls, I've been in the auto business for 40 years and people always ask me for advice on buying a new vehicle, I tell them never buy the first-year model, what do I do I buy a maverick ! I just wanted one and knew there was going to be recalls and didn't care. So every time I go for a oil change I have them do one, only have 11k on my 22 FX4 LUX and have done 3 oil changes and 3 recalls, I have a few more to go.
