Are you replacing the one you bought the year before each time or have 2 or 3 that you rotate? I assume you are paying cash each time or it would seem like you would have $50k in negative equity backloaded.
in 3 of those years, the car was for my wife, shes had her current car since 2014, and ive had.....MANY, since then. some of those years, like from 2010-13, replaced my car with a motorcycle, and would buy a new one every 6 or so months. i drive a low of 25k/year and a high of 66k/year, so basically, i just get bored.

sometimes i pay cash, sometimes i put 50% plus down etc etc

ive never rolled negative equity into another vehicle, i have always paid it down so at least its even.

I had a Protege in 97-99. With the motorized seat belts. DAMN I hated those but I LOVED that car. 5 speed was smooth and that thing ran forever with very few repairs.

Have a 17 Tucson with 140K and only 1 repair. Been a great , used car.

This will be my 5th car in 25yrs of driving. Wife and I currently share a single car (and don't need another - the maverick is a want) because I work from home. I've had two car loans in my life and one of them was because it saved me $1500 (our current VW Jetta, paid off the loan a week later). If Ford is still offering 0% when our hybrid finally comes in we'll probably take the free loan, otherwise we'll pay cash.

I see posts of people trading in 2020 and 2021 models for their Maverick. Or planning to sell them. And yes, I know the used market had absurd prices but that seems to have settled a little so maybe that's not as big an incentive now? Anyhow, how often do you buy a brand new car?

I ask because I haven't bought brand new in 27 years. Always slightly used to let someone else take the major depreciation hit. (I know that has temporarily changed over the last almost 2 years.) But the Maverick is so cool, so versatile and priced so cheaply, I had to order one. (It's great when kids graduate college , get employed and get off the payroll.)

So do people actually go upside down on loans, roll them into a new vehicle, have monthly payments of $500 or more or is everyone else like me and saving up to pay for the car without having to pay interest? Or take advantage of the 0% financing?

Long, rambling question(s). Hope that makes sense.
Clearly you have not been married to my younger wife!!!!! (I am pretty sure she is not on this forum. Guess I'll find out when I get home tonight!

My 2001 protege could corner like a sports car, had issues with the clutch 5 years in where after 20 min of driving you could not shift into gear. Shut it off and could shift no problem.

Loved the Tucson. Had to get rid of it because 3 car seats did not fit across :(

Maverick will be my 67th vehicle making 8 new rest used

Motorcycles 41 with 8 being new rest used.

Makes 108 vehicles 15 new. Hey I am almost 73 so had some time to do this.
at one point I had 150+ 2 wheeled vehicles in my collection.

I’ve honestly lost count. But since getting rid of all my stuff and Simplifying things down to mostly just the essentials(having a ton of stuff, things start to own you) I’m a one car, one motorcycle at a time kinda guy and it’s waaaaaay easier to keep the fleet alive.

bought an 05 ranger edge too! ($15k at the time with "employee price match")
Don't recall what I paid for it, but my neighbor wants to buy it when I get the Mav. It's got 46k and change on it and I told him I'd take 6k for it.
