Congrats! If it has a moonroof it's the exact vehicle I've been shopping for. I've loved my mav but I can't bring myself to trust it over the long term. 2 years of nobody being able to tell me why the transmission is grabby did it for me. Great concept but after 4 recalls, a warranty repair and the trans issue it's time to say goodbye.

Hows the 4runner ride and handle? I have not actually driven one but if it handles reasonably well and is comfortable it's a go for me. 90's tech, v-6 and a 5 speed sound just about perfect.
5 speed manual trans? Didn't know they still existed.

Yep! It has the moonroof AND heated seats. Turned the heated seats on last night because the AC about froze me out while I was snoozing on our roadtrip home from the Keys. That's a special treat if you've never had that feature before in a car.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statements. I was scheduled to have the remaining two recalls done when I traded mine in.

All I can say is, for your own sake, please exit this forum immediately and take a drive to your local Toyota dealership and go test drive the 4R for yourself. My previous experience with 4Runners has been test driving used ones that were at least 10+ years old, had the bodies rusting off of them, not properly maintained, etc. A new one is an entirely different experience.

Go do it. You'll thank me.

As my husband said, "Maverick? What Maverick?"
As soon as we get done figuring out how we are going to pay for an extra semester of college it's off to the dealer. I've been looking to get one off lease but damned if they aren't asking almost as much as new.

It's a shame, I like my mav and it would have been the perfect vehicle for me 15 years ago. Right now I just want something I don't have to worry about.

Best of luck!

4 runners had a 5 speed auto through 2024. Most other stuff went 6-8 speed autos in that time frame. Dunno when or if they had a manual but I never saw the option available on the 5th gens.

The college is money well spent so long as it's a profession that contributes to the greater good of society. Having a BA in Basket Weaving ain't gonna hack it in today's society. Our daughter is finishing up her Masters in Nursing as of December. The Masters degree is on her dime. We've definitely instilled a work ethic in her, something it seems a lot of younger people are lacking these days.

I really wanted to love my Mav as well and hold onto it for the long haul just to see how things turn out. Having reached the big "double nickels" this year, turns out patience is the one thing I don't have any more, and worrying about my ride isn't something I want to add to my to-do list.

No, just five speed transmission.

This truck
Yea its a trd pro 2021 exclusive color- lunar rock. Then UNFORTUNATELY Toyota put it on the other trims.
Sort of like the multitude of Cactus Gray Mavericks. I specifically didn't choose Cactus Gray or Area 51 because they were the two most popular colors on this forum. The Maverick was my second gray vehicle.

He's doing computer science and I couldn't be more proud of him. It's tough but he's a smart kid - he declared his major kind of late and some of the courses aren't offered in the correct order on his remaining schedule. I really hope it pays off for him and AI doesn't ruin everything. At some point you just have to have faith that things will work out in the long run. But I don't want to rely on faith to get me from point A to point B.

And 55 is the new 40. Wait until your next birthday begins with a "6" or higher. ;)
