I have had my 2023 Hybrid XL for a little over a year and about 20k miles.

The past week I was in drive, not moving, and there was a new noise for about 15 seconds each time.

I wasn't sure if it was a buzzing, or something from the exterior noise maker.

It wasn't the forward or reverse noise, and I wasn't moving.

I'll try to get a recording next time.

Just odd I have never heard this before and it happened twice within a week.

No warnings on the dash.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm not ready to take it into the dealer yet, as I am sure they will want to replicate it. I am curious how you would like to help?

It could be your electric AC compressor. They are a little buzzy sounding, especially when you start it up on a hot day.

That may be it, as it has been very hot here lately. Is the noise normal, or is that an indicator of a problem?

Considering you can run the AC while in park - do that and pop the hood.
You'll be able to confirm yourself with AC on or off. Maybe even locate it.

Next time it happens while in drive but not moving - turn your climate controls off so AC is off, see if sound stops. Then back on to see if sound returns.

May be normal sound you just never noticed - may be something rattling with it running - may be something bad.

it is most noticeable when you open the drivers door and put your head out. Once you close the door with the window up you can barely hear it.

This was definitely noticable with the doors shut and windows up. I'll try to get a recording next time.
