I had ordered my Maverick with the main reason to pull my future pontoon boat. It can handle the weight but I did not realize that a trucks wheelbase must be a certain length relative to the overall trailer length in order to prevent any trailer sway from overpowering the truck itself.
I have this forum to thank for that and now I’m off to find a F150 Lariat club because I just bought a 2021 today!
Anyone towing, please be sure to check your wheelbase.

If you have never towed a pontoon, they are notorious for flipping over on corners. Very top heavy on a narrow track trailer. I've seen several of these crashes. A big tow vehicle will make a rollover more likely. It insulates from feeling the forces of the trailer resulting in overconfidence and cornering too fast.

Thousands of people towed with those square body Blazers & they had a very short wheelbase, don't recall a lot of issues. Any type of boat is going to be a long trailer. The trick with towing a pontoon is to use a trailer that the pontoons sit on, rather than those that are narrow where the frame of the boat rides on.

I better get a new truck. I've been doing it wrong for the last 2 years. I must have been lucky. I better tell those truckers in a day cab they are in danger.
