My 2024 EcoBoost has 1,083 miles on it and now the right wiper (as viewed from the cab) won't return to its original position over the black part of the glass. I've noticed I can't fully lift the wipers to clean the windshield because the hood is in the way and can only lift the right one an inch or so to clean the glass under it. On all my previous vehicles the wipers would stay in an "up" position. At first I just shrugged my shoulders, but now that the right wiper won't fully stow, it's annoying. The wiper doesn't appear to be tweaked in any way, the windows are clean, wipers don't have many miles on them and I can physically move the wiper to its original stowed position with a slight nudge.

Any ideas about how I can get the right wiper to go down all the way when I stow them using the steering wheel wiper control?

First photo shows the problem. Second photo shows how the wiper used to stow.

If you are using intermittent and turn off the engine the wiper blade does not fully retract. You have to turn off the wiper for it to retract when you restart the engine. May not be what you did, but possible.

When they're off you can move them by hand to the center and just pull them up off the glass.

Thank you. I should have said I already checked that. When in intermittent mode the stow position is even higher. When not in intermittent mode it doesn't get all the way to the dot on the windshield.

Thanks, you're a smart cookie! Guess I should read the owners manual. I was hoping after doing that they would both stow in their previous positions. No joy there, but at least it's easy to clean the window. 🙂

Oh, for Pete's sake. It just decided to stow in the normal position. 🤷‍♀️ Wonder how long that will last. Now if I could just figure out why the finger lock/unlock sometimes decides not to work. And why when I walk by the locked, non-running truck it makes weird noises. I think there's ghosts in the machine.

Mine makes noises just like you described! I thought, at first, it was just from the engine cooling down. But I've been hearing it at other times, too! Gremlins!

Right! It can be sitting for days and I walk by and I think I hear switching or mechanical noises. Pretty curious about what it is.

My 2023 Lariat does the same thing with the passenger wiper blade, it does not settle down all the way. So is this normal or am I missing something? Thanks.

I wish I knew. I think I saw a reference somewhere to the same problem with an Escort.

It is watching for the key FOB and when it sees it gets ready for you to grab the door handle. Has to do things like deactivate the perimeter alarm so the horn doesn't honk and lights flash when you touch it. May do many things. It's ok to walk by without the fob. It will also click in middle of night as it periodically will update the bms. Someone posted that no matter how much he drove his maverick the day before, his HVB when parked could show up to 75-80% but in morning when he started it the HVB would show 35%. I understand the HVB cannot charge the 12v with the truck off but what else might use up the HVB?

What is HVB? Must be a glitch in it since it doesn't always unlock when I touch the door handle.

Oops sorry HVB = High Voltage Battery in Hybrid. The unlock sensor is in the handle near the end of the handle nearest the edge of door. The key fob needs to be close to sensor 24" maybe 36" but if it's close to truck the metal in side of truck can block signal. Also maybe if fob is near a lot of coins, keys, or in a faraday cage of sorts the signal can be blocked. I have trouble if I am between parked cars trying to open door with left hand and fob is in my right pocket. Also be sure your fingers are on the inside of handle nearest the opening door edge for best results.

Edit to add: it's also possible the battery in the fob is getting weak and may need replacing soon.

I notice that on my 2023 EB Lariat. If you have the keys on you and within range the doors can be unlocked by pulling on them. Thought it was a problem but it is selectable thru menu on screen. Some kind of intelligent key/lock for the vehicles. Needless to say started reading manual for more details.

Yes, the door handles that unlock with fob near by have several ridges on top of the handle to indicate where sensor is, if you have that option. Read lock/unlock settings in manual. You can choose for only the nearest door to unlock or others also. It is for security if desired.
