I just took several long (14 hour each) trips in the Maverick (2023 Lariat Hybrid) and used my iPhone 13 and Apple Car Play extensively, with Waze navigation.
Interesting behavior: When a voice call comes in, the audio (generally from Pandora) mutes so I can hear the call. No problem there, as expected.
If a text message notification comes in, and I press read, it reads the message, mutes the audio, but does NOT mute the navigation...so now the navigation voice is listened to. If the navigation is telling me "Exit right at Exit 30 for Podunkville" Apple Maps automatically starts up, and locates that on the map! Now Apple Maps is running concurrently with Waze.
Because the Waze isn't muted, if I am responding to a text (be reminded this is all hands free with eyes on the road) now the Waze directions are transcribed into the text reply. Can you imagine if they didn't mute the music? "Sister, let me tell you about the doctor visit I had with <CANT BUY ME LOVE, LOVE> dad today..."
When messaging is reading you text messages, it reads only the last message that hasn't been read. If you use WhatsApp for messaging, it reads ALL the messages in the thread even if it read them moments ago. So you listen to the whole thread over again each time.
Anyone notice these kinds of behaviors?
