I loved having my 1974 Datsun pickup back in high school. I have so many fun memories of fixing it up with my friends. Post your pics if you have any of your mini truck!

These memories are banned on MTC because they inconveniently point out to the more rabid fanboys that the Maverick is a fat bloated pig of a truck compared to what was sold last century. It ruins the narrative that the Maverick is a svelte small truck.

Four things are guaranteed to set off the more rabid fanboys. (1) Complimenting the Santa Cruz. (2) Pointing out that the Maverick is 3" longer than a Telluride. (3) Inconveniently reminding them that they're choosing the truck built in Mexico over the truck built in Alabama USA. (4) Saying the word "electric" in any context.

Thats what Shelby called the 67 Mustang. 30 years later, Nic Cage jumps one and suddenly they are worth a million dollars. Im glad i built a carport for mine.

I don’t have a picture to dhow but my first pickup was a 1986 Toyota mini pickup in dark blue. Great little truck! Hated to get rid of it but the Navy would only pay to have on vehicle shipped to Hawaii. I sold it.

Not my pic but I had a 84 S10 just like this but mine had white letter tires. It had a pretty anemic 2.8L V6/auto, 2wd, bucket seats and power windows. After a few years, a couple accidents and a lot of work and not enough money to do what I wanted I ditched it for a sweet (at the time) 94 C1500 stepside and didn’t look back.

Neither of these was actually mine, but they are close to what I had. My first pickup was a 1987 Nissan Hardbody which I bought new. The second was also a Nissan, this time a 1994 I bought used. Both were reliable, good trucks. I kept the '94 until about 2010, then missing a small truck, I bought my first Maverick in 2022, and my second, and current one, in 2023. Loving it.

This was our '85 Nissan King Cab - one of a string of Datsun/Nissans for us. The earlier ones had an external horizontal seam in the bed. It rusted in a couple of years in New England.

Our first was a 74 Mazda Rotary truck It was fun and would kick my friend's Datsun's ass. I later got a Rabbit diesel that wouldn't kick anything's ass. Later a Dakota and a Frontier but they aren't really mini trucks.

In His Glory, 1992 (185hp T-Bird Turbo motor, T-5 tranny, Ranger SVO body parts)..

Started a love affair with FORD Rangers for the next 36 years.(1986-2022)...
