What ford really wanted to say I saw this and don't make any drivetrain or suspension claims. 😉
If they saw my maverick Baja video on rumble they already wrote off mine as non warranty. Lol

Can and should are two different words.......Any truck can pull over its weight rating, just wont do it forever. Good looking truck though.
Honestly that part the reason I like doing it. Find out what it will do. Gives other an idea if it will last very long or not. Call it proving people wrong. Or right but we will find out. Kinda like my big tires were gonna destroy my drivetrain, well it’s either gonna be those, the tune, or abuse. The world may never know but if it survives me doing this than the guys wondering if towing 4 k long distance is ok will know the answer.

Did the same with mine when I moved from CO to NC. The Maverick did a fantastic job hauling my project car across the country.

My setup puts me just under the 4k mark, but with the bed full and the car loaded to the brim with car parts, it was definitely over the 4k limit lmao

Man I really like both the rigs in your picture. If or when you get it finished. You have an open invite to a track day with me.

How was Gingerman? I'm 30 minutes South and had considered going up there as a spectator. I wasn't sure if it'd be worth it or not.

It was a ton of fun. Some groups that run are more fun than others.
The one I like to go with the most allows ride alongs and is pretty laid back.
I’m not sure I’ll make it back till fall but it’s definitely a good time. Gratten can’t be to far from you either then. That’s another great track to check out. Very technical.

The equipment and people in the truck do not count towards your 4K tow limit.
Actually, they do.

Per the Ford Towing guide.
Ford Maverick Towed the car in 16' trailer with ease. 1713887272751-jk

Example:
Here is the breakdown for my 2022 Lariat Hybrid. Data comes from the stickers on my door pillar and from the Ford Towing Guide.

Ford Maverick Towed the car in 16' trailer with ease. 1713889862493-9w

If I load my truck to the gills with gear and people, I shouldn't be towing a 1000 lbs, much less the original tow limit.

16’ trailer, firewood for the weekend, 25 gallons extra fuel for the car, Mazda rx8 full of fuel, fire pit, grill,” both are barely lift able with one person”, all camping gear, and tools.
Was only a bit over one hour down and back to gingerman but 65mph speed limit was zero issues for the maverick.

While I compliment the Maverick on its towing abilities, I just have a problem with pushing the limits. So many variations one can encounter on the road; crosswinds, caught in between two semis, road debri/hazards, etc., that can make an already borderline tow situation unstable and lead to a loss of control.
Let's be smart and careful out there.

That’s the key. One needs to be smart and know what they are doing. I’m old enough to remember when we had no choice but to tow larger loads with less than ideal conditions. That being said when they safety rate them they need and do use the lowest common denominator. IE DUMB DUMBS.
Also lots of other factors like acceleration are factored into sae which by no means creates unsafe conditions if you are not passing traffic.
So like most things in this world. One needs to use common sense and know what they are doing. I haul a lot all over and have for 20 years. I can assure you this setup is significantly more safe than the guy who had a 1 ton truck buys a 33’ camper and decides that because it’s writhing the limits and the law that he should and could drive 75mph on the highway. Well within safety limits and speed limits here but definitely not as safe as what I’m doing at 65mph.
Safety is all relative.

Yes. Without trailer brakes.

With proper trailer brakes, my Maverick does not even feel the trailer back there when slowing and stopping.

And accelerating 0-60 in 15 seconds feels the same to the truck with trailer, as does accelerating 0-60 in 7 seconds without the trailer.
