I have always been very careful giving any hand signals to other drivers...very easy to be misread.

I've only seen a couple of Mavericks in the wild. The first one I saw was pulling into a parking lot, I WAS pulling out, but put in reverse and waited till he got out. The truck just looked sharp and caught my eye. I have mine ordered (building first week of April) but hadn't had a chance to speak with a real owner. While I have read this forum for months, most of it is very positive-there have been things that concerned me, but I wanted to talk to a real owner and we did for about 45 minutes, super nice guy from Chicago heading to Florida in his Maverick. Answered all my questions and concerns and I happily wait for my truck to be built and delivered soon.

That's good to hear! I did the same thing. I literally spoke with at least two dozen owners before I got mine. One even told me I could hop in the driver's seat and get a feel for it.

Thanks @Maverickman74! I never knew that it had an official name! When I used to skateboard many moons ago, it was just part of the skate/surf/BMX culture that obviously never left me all these years later!

Yeah it's a big Hawaiian thing. Even the big island of Hawaii looks a lil bit like a shaka.

I also hope that the Maverick becomes such an omnipresent appliance on the road that you'd no sooner wave to one than you would an F150.

Maybe it's because of how new the Maverick is, but I never thought about it in that scope. Good point.

When I bought mine, one of the salesman threw up his "Mav signal" and it was like holding up three fingers, but upside down so your fingers make an "M." I think about that every time I see one.

That's the same thing @Wozz123 was talking about! Lol

Did you lose 3 fingers in a wood chipper or something? Lol. I actually broke both my middle fingers in a flywheel stamper press ages ago, it's actually uncomfortable to flip the bird for me.

I like the idea of flashing the hang 10 sign. Some of my relatives are Hawaiian and they sign with the index finger included. I would wave no problem, I drank all the mav cool aid and bought more! I’ll ride the wave till it’s not fun anymore🛻

Seems liking owning ANY new car today is a privilege ! Payments have increased a lot in just a short time. To each his own I say.

Exactly. That's what drew me in: a new vehicle, which is a [small] truck, at this price point-and a hybrid, too? Sign me right up!

I ordered the first day back on the summer of '21 and received my Maverick the first week of March 2022, over two years ago. They were extremely rare then, but I never noticed any waves, gestures, or secret handshakes. One guy asked about it at the gas pumps, but never the fandom that other folks mention. I did have a few express sympathy when it wouldn't start, being new and all.

Maybe the fandom is area-specific? Strangers approach me fairly often to talk about mine. I do like the idea of us having a secret handshake, though. Lmao

Exclusivity and privilege have never been aspirational for me and even if they were, owning a Maverick wouldn't satisfy them. To each his own.

This is simply a light-hearted post. I didn't say anything to speak to your specific aspirational goals, or anyone else's.
