Collision avoidance so I do not hit the car in front of me?

If a vehicle is in your blind spot and the indicator is on, the "little" bump cannot be overcome. Did not test right turn but it appeared that steering was locked when imminent collision screen was activated in straight ahead with truck stopping about 6-12" from impact so it appeared computer was in "no sweat" mode. Could not say if it was my pressure or trucks automatic stopping but stopping was achieved without skidding tires and I could not have put any more pressure onto pedal.
I had the same experience with a hard stop imminent collision - avoided the smart phone enthusiast that pulled out in front of me by about a foot.
I wasn't sure either if it was me or the Maverick that did the braking though. The dash board did light up red. I did not notice that the steering wheel was locked to go straight ahead though.
However -
I did not know that if a vehicle is in your blind spot the bump cannot be overcome!
I have a hard time believing that.
And there is no way of testing it.
How do you know that?

And we wonder why an entry level truck costs so much?
Too much foo foo stuff . The lane assist almost made me crash into a another vehicle on a merging lane on a freeway intersection in the rain at 65 going on a curve as 2 lanes merged tried to pull ( hold)me as as I was merging( had) to . Very unnerving , in the rain at speed . Got off at the next exit , looked up how to turn all that crap off and now drive my own vehicle , using all my own talents . Not relying on a windshield mounted camera 6 or seven sensors and some kids algorithms to guide me past a few vehicles, a semi and concrete k rail 100’ up above another freeway , on an overpass exchange in the rain!
AEB is not 'foo' stuff. It's will keep the idiot texting behind you from rear ending you and totaling your vehicle. We tested it at the Edge ST track day, steady 30 MPH towards an inflatable car, foot kept on gas, do not touch brake. It stopped short every time. My wife could never resist hitting the brake herself, too soon. She just couldn't let it do it's thing. Caveat, once you manually brake, it disables and assumes you're paying attention, so if you half-ass brake, you'll still hit whatever was in front of you.

I tried hard left lane change to avoid idiot stopping rapidly to turn right at about 55 and someone coming into blind spot going about 75 or more. This was before red collision screen activated. I do not remember but ACC may have been on also. Steering was locked from left turnning.

So it sounds like it saved you from yourself.
A hard left lane change without looking?
Don't know where you live but in the Detroit area the roads are way too crowded to do that - imminent collision or not. You have to look.
I think it's good the Maverick knows that.

So (warning it’ll scare the crap out of you when it happens) mine went off twice in my three months owning it.

1. There was an immediate stop with no warnings. To prevent a collision I braked hard and swerved slightly to avoid the vehicle in front of me. Due to the immediate stop where the speed limit was about 50 vs the immediate decrease in speed by the vehicle in front of me, I wonder if that triggered it.

2. I was speeding up to go around a slower moving vehicle that pulled out in front of me, and though I had tons of room to pass, I think the system thought I was about to rear end the vehicle in front of me.

I wonder if it has to do with your rate of speed vs that of the object in front of you? I unfortunately don’t know any other way to trigger it unless maybe tested by ford? (Both instances happened without cruise control on)
Same here I hate it. Especially when speeding up to pass a slower car. And it goes off right when you are pulling out to pass on a two lane road. Scares the crap lout of me like I missed something. I hate that future

"Speeding up to pass a slower car"
Sounds like you were right on their ass to have the collision warning off.
You were upset that they were going so slow right?
And crawled right up on their ass before trying to blow right by them.
Also sounds like the Maverick is trying to prevent bad driving.

Robert chill out. Go outside and smell some roses. Not everyone’s as bad of a driver as you.

It really does scare the crap out of you! I’ve heard other people say that it can go off randomly too which I’m scared about 🤣

All I know is this is the most unpredictable feeling behind the wheel I’ve felt and I have 9 years of professional off road racing and almost 40 years on the road averaging 50,000 miles a year for my job , with a few more years of drag racing in between.
It’s not for me . If it helps others drive better more power to them.
I’m just going to have to restore all the old vehicles and keep them . Probably cheaper than new vehicles at the current rate anyways .i have the feeling the old trucks will remain in want , our newer ones in 25 years are going to have a hard time finding the acas, restraint control and electric shift modules ,led screens ,plastic bumper covers intact and recycled plastic fender liners to restore them ?I could be wrong .
I love the truck , am currently cutting it up to make it a prerunner for off road racing and pre running.Just think this level of truck could have used a true bare bones model similar to old rangers and Toyotas.
High school kids would actually be able to afford an entry level truck again then on a part time minimum wage job.

If these systems are being constantly activated on you, you are a crappy driver.
If you are "speeding up to go around a slower moving vehicle" with "tons of room to pass" (getting up on someone's ass and trying to high speed veer around them) yeah, you're that guy.
Let me ask you something, if a cop happened to see your little manuver, would you be pulled over? Yeah you're that guy.

Man maybe that’s it I hate it but I also hate most of the stability control stuff. Especially when you start counter steering only for it to step in and send you in a direction you didn’t intend it to go.
Found that out when turning it all off in my 150 even held it for the 30 second. Get enough steer angle and it still is on just loosens it a bit.

Maybe not I drive 80k miles a year very rarely get tickets and no accidents have been my fault. Mine has gone off with a ton of distance between me and the car in front. Mine also doesn’t seem to be consistent which is the worst part. I’d turn it off if I could but maybe his is more sensitive or like mine just very random. The random is the part I hate the most.

My apologies. Maybe this system is wildly different in every Maverick. Mine seems just right. Mine activated just right when it was supposed to when I was hitting the break anyway after someone pulled in front of me. Otherwise I've never had any of this stuff activated. But I always use my turn signals. I Don't tailgate and I don't veer around slower moving vehicles.
