It was garageless unfortunately in Oahu after the ordeal at the dealer (they wanted $8,000 over msrp, and were absolute jerks) then we decided we could no longer afford Hawaii. So back on the ship ($920 and only 7 days later) to San Diego for a great road trip. From SD to ABQ only two tanks with leftovers
I was surprised that off the ship it was just dusty! They of course did not spray it off in San Diego. When we brought my ‘97 Ranger to Oahu in ‘99 they washed it, but that was matson, not pasha..I washed it at a Hose It car wash 1 mile from the house. Thanks to this Club I have so many accessories on the body it would freak in a drive thru

Well there is that. Were you all in that area? That's been too damn long. Unfortunately contamination and cleanup zones are some of the fastest disasters with the slowest fixes. I tell ya if Lahaina is rebuilt before red hill and diesel are only mention in the past tense, heads better roll in the navy offices.

(The day of the Lahaina fire) My Mav was in a carport and on two different occasions was hit by a garbage can and the cover weights slamming into itLahaina is incredibly sad! They let you ship it with fuel and guessing oil in it?771 miles, first long drive in 25 years! The Maverick was put BACK on the ship heading east! I stayed at a total dive in San Diego one night only to pick it up from its 7 day ocean journey. (Coming from Hermosillo it took 2 months to get it 6 months ago!) The Mav had 2833 on it in Honolulu as the ocean east journey began. 1/4 tank and cleaned, they let me keep the dog carrier and tonneau in it thankfully.
It sat 4 days before boarding the Marjorie C to San Diego. Took a (my last but it was only 4 1/2 hrs thanks to the jet stream) Hawaiian Air flight 16 to San Diego February 26 praying all the way I could pick up the Maverick the next day on the 27th (It was there the 25th.) Knowing I was going to drive for AT LEAST 11 1/2 hours I went to sleep at 11p. Then at 2:30a Zoe our 16 yo terrier pees on the bed..2:45a a mustang crashes down below our room into a F150 (When Fords Collide.) This doesn’t make sense because the parking lot is not a highway
So I got 4 interrupted hours prior to picking up the Maverick. I wasn’t even sure I was gonna be able to pick up the Maverick because they never called me back at Pasha in San Diego. I just on a whim went down there at 8 AM hoping I could grab it when I was there a guy behind me was also picking up a car from Hawaii. He must have lived less than a mile from me in Hawaii. He was just coming out of a divorce, and he seemed really angry. Somewhere in the conversation was how he hated a “dick in a dress” I don’t know where the hell he started talking about that he hated everything. I was really ready to get out of there! They had zero help there, so it took about an hour and they were two people in front of me. One of them was picking up a vintage Chevy truck from Florida. It was a rough crowd.
Anyway, the Maverick finally came out of the lockdown. The guy who was super angry at everything in the world, looked at my truck, and then he acted like he would do anything for a ride in it
The interstates were smooth and the cruise control was working perfectly although I don’t have ACC dammit. I also found out that my highbeams were automatic I forgot about it, And they worked seamlessly (unlike my dad’s 1970 Cadillac sedan Deville.) I remember that thing used to click off and on and off and on anyway we finally made it to our home in Rio Rancho at 2:08 AM. Lots of coffee, Kona chocolate covered coffee beans, cheaper gas (it cost $100 to go the 771 miles) and a perfect temperature control, a smooth ride, we got to our new home safely.
A hui Ho Hawaii! Bienvenido New Mexico! I mostly slept two days afterwards , I am so impressed with my truck now I have to go get the bugs off of it. No rock chips! The force field works!
Just less than a quarter tank and it’s cool.
