Hello all,

I searched for this topic and couldn't find anything similar hence this post.

I ordered, from ford.com, the modular bed specific to my VIN and trim. I also paid the $60 for a dealership to install it. I scheduled an appointment and told the install would be an hour. When I got to the dealership they told me it was going to be 4 hours. Okay, fine. I got a call back to the dealership and they said that ford.com did not ship the bed liner with the correct cut outs so they couldn't finish the job that day and I would have to come back. The service department specifically said this was a ford.com issue.

Of course I wrote to Ford customer service and this is what they told me:

"Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. Unfortunately there are no cut outs. It is just as seen in the product photos on the site. It is compatible with most bed accessories, however, not all. Please note, if the liner is modified, or cut outs added, the item will no longer be returnable.

If you have any additional questions, our Ford Parts and Accessories team is here to help. Please call us at 844-589-0060 or visit accessories.ford.com and click on “Chat Now” at the bottom of the page. You may also email us at [email protected]. We are available Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST."

Upon further review of the website I couldn't find this language otherwise I may have considered other products. https://accessories.ford.com/maverick-2022-modular-bedliner. I took it to another closer dealership, the original install dealership is about 1.5 hours away from me, and they said they will charge labor $220/hr and will need a special tool to install the bed liner with the cutouts correctly.

This is a major inconvenience as my wife is supposed to use this truck for her catering/baking company which I need the liner install to create new bed configurations for her cargo. So now, I'm still without the liner install and am waiting to hear back on when the cutouts are done.

Has anyone had this experience?

Is this my user error in not understanding what I was buying? Was the first dealership misleading me? Is this a ford.com problem? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Use Google to search Ford Maverick modular bed liner. There are many results under MTC.

My own post showing the Ford Modular and the Penda Duraliner option:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...r-drop-in-is-in-penda-duraliner-is-out.35755/

The modular Ford kit isn't hard to install .. and it does _not_ come with cutouts as reported by customer service. There are indents on the backsides of the panels to show you where to drill/cutout.

I chose not to do any cutouts but did drill holes for screwing in the tiedowns (uppers).

Search for videos on installing the Ford liner ...the visual/info is there.

Still feel it's beyond your capabilities? Try the 2-piece Duraliner from Penda.
It is literally drop-in for the tub and screw replacing on the tailgate.

The cut outs are not hard to do. I used a dremmel tool for the two bins and two tabs at the back. You will also need a 1-1/8" hole cutter for the tie down mounts. The one issue I had was the guides for the two small tabs for the tail lights are larger than the actual flaps. I have some metal still showing.

My dealer did my (separately ordered) Ford OEM bed liner install prior to me taking delivery, they charged 2 hours labor. They did do the cutouts for the cubbies and such. My sales guy said that the tech told him the install was harder than he thought it would be.

I got my Maverick XLT with the lux pkg that includes the bed liner last month. It does not have all of the cut-outs in it, like the tapped holes to install accessories. I am going to have it removed and install a spray in liner instead. You can get this done at any Ziebart store for less than $500.

I really like the drop in modular bed liner. It fits like a glove. However, while not overwhelmingly difficult to install, it did take some time. I thought that the cutouts should come done from the factory. But, I accomplished them like the others did, with a drill and Dremel tool. Don't think that the dealers automatically have someone experienced in installing this liner. You could call around to some body shops or repair place in search of someone with the capability to install it for you. My dealer has a local, non-dealer guy that charges $100 bucks for the install.

As others have posted, I also did my own cutouts and smoothed them out, was a very clean install, and only took a couple hours. Since my plan was to add the trifold hardcover, I also removed the rubber plugs from the front sides of the bed and cut out the corresponding holes in the bedliner and reinserted the rubber plugs. When I installed my cover, all I had to do was slit the rubber plug and insert my drain line through. You can save a lot of hassle by planning ahead if you plan to add the cover.

How important are these tail light tabs? Are they a must to cut out?

If the dealer installs a DIBL for $60 and does the cutouts then that is a reasonable price. Any more and you might as well do it yourself. I had a spray in Rhino liner done by the dealer (Lariat LUX) and then I installed a DIBL on top of that and it still fit but was tight. I cut out for tie downs, the storage bin and 120V/led accessorie. Not hard but takes some time and just about anyone can do it. I then installed a Rough Country bed liner mat (3/8" thick). Nothing moves or slides around in my bed. Super quiet and I never hear any noise from the bed no matter what I put in it.
