SAAB 900 Turbo 3-dr... First Gen or Classic from 1979-1993. I prefer the facelifted version (post 1987), but I also like the early pre-facelift 4 door Combi Coupe (4 door fastback with the hatch as opposed to later 4 door notchback). I mean if we're going impractical... why not?

And of course if the Maverick is down and you still need to haul something, then call on the combi-coupe..

VW Mk1 Cabriolet (1980-1994) from above is an awesome choice as well. Again, here I prefer the later years which is kind of a MK1.5 as it included bits from the Mk2 golf to improve the electrical system and is a much more refined. LIttle cowl shake to keep you awake..

This is my spare. My son has the Maverick right now while his SO's car is being repaired from an accident.

I'd probably go either older Miata or Jeep if you are looking for fun and impractical. Both have their merits but in different ways.
There's too many Miata's around here. I am considering other small roadsters. Solstice/Sky/Crossfire/MR2.

Want something simple to work on? Get a 1970's Maverick. There are some out there in nice condition for less than $10,000 and they are easy to work on. Just a thought.
This seems like a good idea worth looking into. It'd also make a great response whenever someone pulls out the that's not a Maverick line.

There's a yellow GXP on BAT that ends tomorrow. And, the yellowness helps my Cyber Orange(yellow) Mave look more orange.

Volkswagen Cabriolet? Probably none in decent condition left, but you never know.

This isn't really my type of car. Which is too bad because there's a red one with lots of mods for sale 2 blocks away. He started at $7500 but has so far trickled down to $4k.

Something with a tow rating, or serious 4x4 like a Jeep or Bronco. Could also go with something fast. An original Ford Maverick would be fun too. 10k does sound alot like the price of a 04-06 Jeep LJ. WJs are nice and cush and pretty reliable if its a 4.0. Decent enough tow capacity aswell.

There are a lot of Miata's around for a reason, best selling sports car of all time, rock solid. I've had two of them Out of the four you mentioned the MR2 is probably the best out of the lot.

I like to keep 2 vehicles. My hybrid checks every requirement box I've got. This opens up my 2nd vehicle options to basically anything. I've got $10k to spend and am looking for suggestions. What's your 2nd vehicle?

I'll probably put 3-5k miles a year on the 2nd vehicle. My initial thought is something fun and impractical. I like to do my own maintenance and mid-lvl repairs. I'm located in a small beach town in the Midwest. Its normally just me and sometimes one of my corgis.
Here’s my 2nd vehicle. 65 mpg, lots of fun, but can’t help with the corgis!

I second the motion, Mazda miata is the ultimate car on my list, practical+light + easy to maintain+cheap parts+great handling and convertible. I mean what else to ask ? A LS engine swat ? Flying miata have your back.

Those are great, but since the discovery that is the same engine than the supra those are getting expensive, I do love those too on a white pearl color.
I had a couple of the sc400s (while i had my Legends)...interior and exterior parts are hard to come by..gonna have to be handy
I always liked the V8

Does.....this exist? (Understood....the North coast...yes, yes)

Anyhow - $10k isn't getting you anywhere in the used vehicle market. Why not grab a high end e-bike to pair with your hybrid?

I am a fan of the Onyx RCR for around $5,500 it'll hit a top speed of 50mph. Now, it's not street legal per se but you'll be fine.
