I hesitate to ask this as it could open up a can of worm.

How does an entity manage who can add (or disable adding) a vehicle to the FordPass app?

Where I work they received 15-20 new Mavericks a few months ago ('23 rollovers) and as an experiment I had one of the guys download and register the VIN. It worked like it was his personal vehicle. He could now unlock, lock, remote start etc the vehicle that doesn't belong to him.

What's to keep someone from walking up to Maverick and inputting the VIN of an unregistered vehicle and 'claiming' it?

This could create all kinds of mayhem.

I suppose blocking the VIN (which is really hard in the Maverick) in the windshield or disabling the cellular could work but an employee would be able to overide these methods still as far I know.

Any thoughts or ideas?

You have to have access to the interior to enable it completely
So non-issue unless you leave your keys in the truck

True, I forgot about that part!

However that still leaves the question of how this can managed at an enterprise level.

I would think they would have one account linked to all of them
I’ve had 2 trucks on my app before plus my wife’s Bronco
Not sure if there is a limit
Also don’t think there would be much of a benefit for someone else to capture the ford pass without a key (like someone rents one and adds it, all they could do was unlock the doors but no driving without the key)

When I sold my first one to Carmax I would randomly start it while it sat there waiting for a windshield
I bet it tripped someone out
But they had the new owner log in and it bumped me

The Kia Telluride we traded in on the other hand…..
You can use a digital key to drive it…. The new owners have not yet switched it

So to everyone that buys a used new vehicle…. Make sure to bump all previous owners off the app

Ford must have a fleet management version. I recall there was a manufacturer communication (SSM 51838) about some vehicles not being able to be registered on FordPass because their TCUs were configured as a fleet vehicle.
