I ordered a 2024 red, hybrid XLT with moonroof and spray bed liner this summer. The dealer quoted me MSRP plus $800 dealer fee. After waiting all this time, and still not having a build date, I decided to see if I could find the same combination in a ‘23 somewhere and try to negotiate a deal. Most dealers were adding big up charges, but there were some that were reasonable Luckily, I actually found a Lariat with the same combo and after negotiating the same deal, minus the military discount, I actually paid $500 below MSRP. Believe it or not, because the ‘23 does not have the $1,500 up charge for hybrid, the MSRP for the ‘23 Lariat was about the same as the ‘24 XLT and when it was all over, I paid less than the one I ordered. The only issue is I had to fly to pick it up and drive back.

I guess the moral of the story is that there are still a lot of ‘23 out there, and if you don’t mind buying a ‘23 to save $1,500 you can do it. You just have to be willing to do some searching, negotiating and shipping/travel to get it. Cheers.

I believe the 24 Lariat comes standard with Lux package and both CP360 packages, the 2023 did not, they were extra options. Does this one have those options?

No. This one doesn’t have either of those. Really, it just had the nice seats, sliding window, power driver seat, braking assist. That’s why it’s close to the XLT.

You made the right choice and one big thing popped up when I read your post. Your order dealer was charging an $800 ADM on a NEW ORDER. Rarely does a dealer do this. The bulk of the dealers order a vehicle at msrp with NO ADM.

Still a nice looking vehicle! You'll probably see some immediate equity based on the market and price increases for 2024.

How much did you spend to do that?
Are you in FL? What dealer did you order with initially?

Originally ordered with Santa Fe Ford in Alachua. Small town dealer. Good, honest place. As far as cost, I spent about $400 between one way tickets to O’hare, one night hotel diving home, food and gas (I got 36MPG at 75-80 mph). Bit of a pain, but i like the idea I got a Lariat seats with my red color, moonroof, hitch receiver, spray bed liner and rear window. Perfect for me. I got this vehicle from Kunes Ford and Antioch Illinois. Very easy process with them. They met me at the airport.

Depending on the state you live in There is a state allowed admin. fee that they all charge. I beleive here in NC it's $800

We ordered a 2024 XL Hybrid from Galpin Ford (CA) for my son. Yet, we bought a 2023 XLT Hybrid at Long McArthur Ford (Salina, KS) for less. Like you, we decided to fly in and make the 1467-mile drive home a father-son road trip.

The road trip would have been fun if we didn't get sick. I suspect I caught something during our Friday flights to Wichita, Kansas since I was sick by Saturday night. My son was sick by Sunday night.

The Maverick performed flawlessly through four heavy downpours and five light hailstorms. The scenery was gorgeous when we were not going through rain or hail.

Congratulations on the purchase. I hope you enjoy your new Maverick as much as we enjoy our respective trucks (me = 23 XLT AWD; son = 23 XLT Hybrid).

I ended up doing the same thing. Every dealer in NC was adding $5K to $10K for the 2023. Found a dealer in Upstate NY who did MSRP less the Ford X-Plan pricing which knocked off around $900 I had business on Long Island so ended up getting reimbursed to drive my trade up and drive the Maverick back.

That’s funny that you went over with your son. What I didn’t mention above is that my son went with me for a dad and son road trip on the way home. We stopped and did some fun stuff along the way. Amazing 36MPG average at 75mph. Would’ve been a heck of a lot better had it not rained for two solid days, but the Maverick Performed fantastic the entire way. And like you, my other son ordered one also! He is still waiting for his Build date. Cheers.
