I guess 5 people got tired of the wait and walked away from the purchase. Giving this stealership a chance to make some extra change. No thanks. Both of our Lariat Hybrids are on the way with one at 3K below MSRP when we use the Ford Private offer and Farm Bureau discounts.

nah, they probably came in, the buyers went to pick them up and they found that the stealership had plunked on a multi thousand $ markup and they refused and walked away.

These look to be '23's, soon to be a year old. 24's are already here. Mine has no mark up.

Not really a California thing. National availability is rough. I am looking at a Maverick XLT Hybrid in Georgetown Texas. Has $3K over plus the dealer addendum $2K. Yep. $5K total but with year end coming (even fewer availble) and next years models being a bit higher in price, it still makes sense. Besides, customer gets the write off on this year and seems like a decent win-win.

It seems the price for used car is trending down. I quoted from several places this week for my my23 XL hybrid with copilot and tow hitch 300miles. Vroom: $24,200; CarMax: $26,000, Carvana: $28,000. I paid $26,300 including tax.

Yeah, for me it's just disappointing how stupid the rest of the herd can be at times. I'm sure I'll get tons of flack from those who did pay markup because it hurts to hear that.

Yup, there are some who were truly in a pinch and didn't have much choice, there are some who could afford to and great for them. I'm willing to guess there is a really large percentage though that took larger loans and just talked themselves into being a little more leveraged out. The pandemic showed just how dumb that can be.

We seem to be very pissed off as a whole about prices lately but we also seem just a tad too willing to justify things that aren't really needs then plunk down for it. It's basically voting with money and the same people complaining are voting against themselves. Need a little more self discipline as a whole. Whether you can afford it or not, if you don't like anything about it, don't buy it. That's how you vote against it.

Ohh yeah... As to the original post. Dealers like that loose my respect on many levels and my business. Even if they can command the price from some. If you're reading and it pisses you off remember that anyone anywhere in the world can find a listing and leave reviews on gmaps, yelp, etc. Might be good for other buyers who read reviews to know that there are MSRP prices to be found elsewhere. Also for them to understand that some people find the price hike practices insulting to consumers. Capitalism works two ways, consumers have power when they are informed and can coordinate.

I have a BRAND NEW 2024 XLT for sale with 76 miles on it I am selling for $29980. No dealer mark ups or gimmicks. I just got it last night. It is Atlas Blue metallic with the Ford 360, tow hitch and 4 pin connect and full size spare tire. Again this is a 2024 model!
