new 2023 Maverick Lariat & Luxury Package purchase - without CoPilot 360 Assist feedback appreciated

Hello,
The back story:
I put money down on a new 2023 Lariat Hybrid w/ Lariat Luxury Package. I got it for a shade under sticker at $32,800. I believe that is a good deal but the truck is located in Atlanta and I'm in Minneapolis. I've done 4 Internet purchases in the past and I like to fly out & pickup the vehicle and drive it home. It's a way for me to get out of the house and see the countryside. I can get an airline ticket to Atlanta for under $100 with enough planning. Once back in MN, I register the vehicle and pay the taxes on it and typically do this out of pocket (not packaged with a loan). The trucks advertised in the MN / WI area are heavily marked up beyond sticker, hence the Internet purchase.
My question to the community:
I now realize the lariat luxury package does not including CoPilot360 Assist (includes ACC / Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering, etc). That's an added feature which this truck doesn't have. I have Adaptive Cruise Control in my 2020 Fusion and love it. It's not perfect.
I've read the Maverick Truck forum hacks on installing components for Lane Centering & Adaptive Cruise Control and this is something I have the ability & skills to complete a DIY Install (former electronics tech, and current motor head / IT engineer & programmer).
I'm thinking a few options;

1. Keep the truck and do the Lane Centering & Adaptive Cruise Control DIY mod's myself (save some $$$)
2. Ask the dealer if I can take my down payment and purchase a 2014 Lariat that comes with all of the features
3. Try and flip the truck and get a 2024 Lariat
4. Your feedback??

After looking at the 2024 models already out or being shipped to the dealership, I think the sticker price jumps to nearly $36K (no mark up's)
I typically keep my vehicles until approx 65K - 60K and then trade them in or sell them and get another.

I can't really comment on your options other than to say that the Co-Pilot 360 is my favorite feature on my Maverick for highway driving. My Fusion was too old to have that ('16), so it was something new for me. However, I can honestly say that I'll never have another vehicle without it, as long as I'm driving on the highway.

My wife's VW has a similar feature, and Ford's is MUCH better. Ditto for a Toyota that I rented in Ireland earlier this year -- that was even worse than VW. Best of luck in your decision!

We looked at both years and what came with the Lariats and opted for the '24. The CoPilot360 and 360 assist are included in the '24, along with the bedliner and remote start, so no worries on having to add them yourself. Base price for a '24 Lariat is 34,135, so the diff between that and a '23 is only $1105. (The 400W inverter comes with the '24 Lariat too, so it may even be less than that.) Then, you trade your '23 for more than you paid for it on, say, Carvana, where someone here said they got a few thou more for it than they paid and then bought a '24. Easy peasy.

1. Could be a liability nightmare if it causes a crash. Due to all the lawyer billboards out there, you might be better off slamming into a car with "dumb" cruise control than having a "smart" cruise you installed that failed.
2. Talk to your dealer. We can't really answer that here as there are 3,000 different dealerships with 3,000 different opinions on the matter.
3. You can try, but the market isn't as flip friendly right now. Hybrid helps.
4. Personally, ACC was a must-have and I purposely looked at my order sheet to make sure it was there. If it came in without it, I would have just passed altogether.

I was thinking about calling the dealer and asking what they had coming in for 2024’s and seeing if I could push my deposit to that instead - as long as it’s a Lariat Hybrid.

'24 Lariat has adaptive CC. We have it on our Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and it's the best! It takes some getting used to, but we wouldn't be without it. Add the lane centering etc. and it's a super safe vehicle! We figure any help we can get on better driving is a big plus!

I would say #3 is very Risky! Market is cooling off and so lots of people will still be looking to make money off flips or whatnot may get caught just stuck.

I am in the same boat but drove ours home in April. We got a good deal (2022 pricing on 2023) so I wouldn't try to trade in for a newer one. Still trying to talk the wife into #1.

Agree, however if it's done properly, the DIY ACC would be exactly like factory installed. No reason to not be paying attention behind the wheel (no matter what the Tesla and other fanbois say!)

Thinking about it further, if you haven't bought the one without 360 etc., it'd be better to just order a '24. Our dealer called us after we ordered ours and said they had a '23 coming in that the people decided against once it arrived. They said we'd then have one right away and it'd prob sell for more once our '24 came in. We didn't even think about it because it'd be way too much hassle and too much uncertainty about being able to sell it when the '24 came in! Hate the wait but it'll be worth it to get exactly what we want!

Most of it depends on whether you want/need the truck ASAP or can afford to wait a few weeks/months. My wife and opted to get one that did not have everything we wanted, drove them 6 months while ours were being built like we wanted, then I sold mine for $4K more than I paid for it and she traded hers in for almost $5K more than she paid. She wound up paying $800 difference between an XLT and a fully loaded Lariat Hybrid with all options. Your choice and hope you make what is best for you, not what all of us recommend. Old adage is that it is your money and your decision - no one else's.

I've argued exactly this point in other threads discussing bolting-on ACC. The hassle of getting it working is significant, but I do believe the OP could do it.

If he were in an accident while using ACC most likely nothing will be discussed or discovered. Minor fender-bender, no one looks at the blackbox, fault is determined by observation, insurance companies sort it out, we all move along.

However, if you're driving on company business, and you're at fault the risk changes significantly. If there is 100K+ property damage or loss of life, a lawyer could get involved because if they can find a company liable, now they have real money at stake. Extremely low odds of happening, high risk of liability if it does occur. Personal trip only, no risk unless you have a very high net worth (say 1M+), then you're as enticing to lawyers as a business. Still takes a big accident for anyone to get interested in poking at the blackbox to see what the truck says you were doing.

What's the real issue in bolting-on ACC is resale. OP said he sells/trades after 60K miles or so. IMHO best recourse would be to disable the ACC and sell it with the window sticker specs - no ACC.

OP also said he has a 2020 Fusion with ACC. Keep driving it and look for an in-stock Maverick with ACC, and order a MY24 with ACC. He will get a truck with ACC sooner or later.
