I was just thinking that a company could make money on wheel covers (hubcaps) for steelies. I’m actually surprised it hasn’t happened yet, or have I just missed it?

Why can't you just go down to the local parts store and pick up a set of them?

A lot of the universal ones are already available at auto parts stores, Amazon, Ebay, etc.

I didn’t know if there was something weird about steelie wheels so that “universal fit” doesn’t fit.

As JBryant already said, there are plenty of inexpensive 17” wheel covers on Amazon and E-Bay.

Some of them look very decent for what they are. Two things to be aware of. Based on photos I’ve seen, they tend to look a lot better if you first paint the steelies black. And the clips that hold the wheel covers to the wheels will scratch the steelie paint.

I’ve considered them but I decided to not buy. I’ll keep the steelies until I run across a good deal on some XLT or Bronco take offs.

I suppose the 3rd thing to be aware of is they eventually fall off. Do buy them in sets of 8. That way you have spares and it doesn't both the heck out of you. I'm looking into a powder coat for the steel set I just picked up. Prolly no covers.

They exist. And I agree they work best if your rims are already black (if you want to go dark). There are some ok silver and chrome options, but those always look super cheap and "plastic-y" to me.
