Let me preface this by stating we're in a small town in north-central Wisconsin where everybody knows everyone so dealer shenanigans aren't at play here. We ordered the Maverick during the September order period last year. Through both the website and our salesman we knew it was in production first week of July. Saw the Maverick was in transit mid July. So I figured end of July for delivery. Our salesman called and said it hit the rail yard in Chicago the third week and that they'll need to assemble the truck load for shipping to the dealer. I get that, I've been in logistics and supply train management for 30+ years. So we wait. Ford and our salesman says delivery should be the week of August 4th.

That comes and goes. Talk to our salesman and he says it's still in Chicago. However, they've taken delivery of a few Bronco Sports and Escapes produced after our Maverick and sat in Chicago for far less time. Sunday I check the website and it tells me it's been delivered. We head to the lot and there's no Maverick but a new Escape. Monday call the salesman up and explain to him the situation. He looks it up and shows the same thing. Now he puts on his PI hat and starts looking into this. Tuesday morning calls me and says, your truck is on it's way to Canada. What? We call customer support while he calls the regional manager. CS tells us it's on its way to Canada and the regional manager tells our salesman that it's heading there as well. He asks how this is possible but has no answers. He's going to look into it and get back to him later. Finally Wednesday morning calls back and they blame it on a computer glitch and the truck should still be in Chicago and they'll get it on a truck. Ford, really? Now I'm wondering if the regional representative is blowing smoke up our posterior end or they really found our missing truck. We'll wait and see. :cautious:

**edit Wednesday morning.

Update:
So once we got the VIN from Ford at production I entered it into our Ford Pass app (we currently own a 2019 Ranger). Last night I decided to look and see if the Maverick was still there and it was. It also gave me the option to Activate the vehicle. So I did just that. I figured if someone saw the Select Yes on the display to activate the vehicle they might select it. I'd know of it's location. Checked it tonight still not activated but Ford had deposited all the Ford Points into our account for the new Maverick purchase. I guess they're thinking we took delivery of it? Dealer is closed for the weekend so I'll have to look into this on Monday. Who knows, maybe it'll show up on the lot this weekend? Since it's an Area 51 maybe the aliens wanted it back? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Can't get angry just amused at the thought of our little Maverick bobbing around lost in the big corporate Ford sea.

I hope it's not misguided but I think they'll get their collective feces in one sock and figure it out. If it did go to Canada I will accept a bed full of bottled maple syrup and the rear seat stuffed with cases of maple sugar candy as recompense for the aggravation. Wilford here I come.

Not to sound mean but shit like this happens all the time in logistics. I mean when you order something off Amazon and it gets rerouted through six different locations hundreds of miles away from you is it Amazons fault or Fed-Exs?

Rail and truck transport logistics are really complicated and sometimes things like this happen. It's not fair to blame Ford for this becasue once it leaves the factory it is quite literally out of there control.

I mean what do you expect Ford or your dealership to do?? CSX, NFS, UP, and BNSF all have a market cap larger than FoMoCo. The railroad ain't the little guy here........Ford is so let that sink in.

Wow, Hopefully this will be sorted out and just be a "funny story".

I know logistics SUCK... I have yet to misplace anything in 44+ years at work. 🤞
But, was gone for ONE week and had my replacement really screw things UP!!!!

Last experience of screwball logistics (yes I am beating UPS up again...) was a "Maverick-related" item off of Amazon. Left Indiana, than to Chicago (live near Milwaukee) than got lost in Idaho, Montana, Kentucky and finally made it home from visiting.... Iowa....

Seriously! Hope you can enjoy your Maverick pretty soon!!:cool:

Yikes, I ordered one from a dealer in Green Bay. Finally was scheduled for 8/22. Got a e mail from the salesman on 8/7 telling me it has been built. But according to the Ford tracker it was in production the last 2 weeks. Yes I know the plant was shut down those 2 weeks. So yesterday in the morning it was still in production so I went on the Ford chat thing and had someone check on it, he tells me it has been built and expected shipping to GB is between 9/26 - !0/5. Later that day the Ford tracker moved to built. So my window sticker says it's being shipped by convoy, which means truck. I thought it would have been by rail, but what do I know. Hope yours shows up. Sounds like there is poor communication all around.

My first 2022 I ordered day 1, was shipped and supposedly damaged on a train to or from Chicago. Dealer waited 5 weeks to tell me that. Funny thing was, I had the VIN, set up FordPass when shipped. I tracked my vehicle all the way to Atlanta. It was supposedly repaired and resold. I approached Ford directly. Needless to say, they found a similar. Ended up as Lariat and still a First Edition.. ( what I originally ordered) Shipped directly to my local dealer. Ford also sent a registered letter to me and the dealer that any dealer incentive increases, markups, or add ons, were not allowed and honored my original order as I put $10,000 down. Was another almost 5 months but got my ride.

Give them some grace, they were probably dodging gun fire in Chicago.

I seen things like this happen in my 40 years at a dealership, not often but it happens.
When it does get to your location check it out good, there were times a vehicle was in the body shop being repaired, unfortunately those things also happen. In some cases it doesn't have to be reported to the customer. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

I still wonder what happened to the customers whose Mavericks were involved with the train derailment in Kentucky. Those trucks were definitely damaged and I believe that in that instance they could not be sold. It wasn’t Fords fault however they were the first in line when the angry mob shows up.
Hopefully Ford put something together for them

In my head I'm imaging an Inuit family emerging from their Igloo, snow and ice as far as the eye can see. They pan from left to right, enjoing the beautiful artic morning, and suddenly see a brand new Lariat 2.0EB with AWD and tow package sitting there.

and the crispy critters from East Palestine Ohio. at the very least those orders should have been reordered at the top of the pile.

I think if it was real shenanigans, they wouldn't have told you its in Canada, they'd just have they have no idea where it. I bet its just a railyard screwup where the wrong train car got hooked to the wrong engine.
