I finally could not put it off any longer. I bought a used PHEV SUV and cancelled my Sept 17, 2022 order (which we 'converted' to a 2024 order). The problem is that I absolutely needed a commuter vehicle that can haul some limited stuff, and that was a year ago. I did not want to go through another year of waiting. A bonus was the fact that I negotiated it to under $25K, so I can qualify for the used PHEV purchase Fed Tax Credit, but that was not the driving factor. BTW: Those of you thinking about a PHEV in your near future should look at that option (Carefully--a lot of strings are attached).

I put less money into this purchase than the Ford dealership signed me up for in the 2024 Maverick order (rolled from the 2022 order for a 2023). I am still wanting a Maverick truck--I hope to trade this 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in on a 2026 (or so) Maverick PHEV in a couple of years. The Outlander is a unicorn out there in the USA, and not highly rated. But the price was right and it still has lots of miles on its original warrantee. So, I rolled the dice and got a vehicle that actually exists, instead of continuing to wait on a year-long promise with uncertainty.

I did not really need a PHEV, but I wanted to try at least a Hybrid, and a PHEV may be really handy. But, mostly, I really needed a vehicle before Fall.

You did what you had to. IMO Mitsubishi is an underrated brand and a PHEV is an option a lot of Maverick buyers would choose if they could or so I've read.

September 17th 2022 order? I ordered mine on the 16th. Four others had been been in ahead of me and I think I was the 1st hybrid. Smallish dealership too and I've had mine for a week. What was the holdup?

Congrats. Looks like that Mitsu will haul some gear. Cannot blame you one bit. I would never have rolled over to a '24 if I had not been scheduled. Enough is enough really.

I ordered my Maverick same day as the OP and still waiting for it to be shipped. Only Ford can answer the question on What was the holdup??

I don't know. Neither did the small dealership, and that was the main issue right there. They really gave me no information at all. ALL of the information on build dates, priorities, etc. came from this forum. I had to give the salesman updates on Maverick issues as I saw them pop up in the forum--he simply was not keeping up, I guess.

I ordered an XL with Copilot 360, because I wanted external power mirrors. I also ordered a trailer hitch initially, but dropped it after some indications (this forum) that it was a problem in getting the truck scheduled. That's it.

I wanted the XL because 1) it was the least expensive model and 2) I did not want a bluish interior, such as with the XLT.
