It’s hot here in California. I opened my tonneau cover and noticed the felt has completely come loose from the cover.
I can just imagine my conversation with the service advisor.
Sir, the felt has come loose from my tonneau cover.
Service advisor. You are the first person who has reported this.
Me. Really!
Service advisor. I will have to look into this. We will need the truck for 2 to 3 days.
Me. It’s going to take 2 to 3 days to get a resolution to this little problem.
Sir advisor. Yes.
3 days later. I have spoken to a Ford representative and they are still looking into the matter.
7 days later. Service advisor. You will need to bring the truck back in for 2 days. We ordered new felt.
Me. It’s going to take you 2 days to put new felt on.
Service advisor. Yes, we are extremely busy.
Me. Can you just call me when you might be able to put the felt on without me leaving the truck for 2 days. I can put it on myself.
Srevise advisor. According to Ford reference 3456.ads.1234, a customer can not put on any Ford part under warranty.
Me. Ok. I give up.
I can not be the first person who has had this problem. The OEM manufacturer must know of this problem. Why do they still manufacturer this tonneau cover with the felt that comes loose in hot weather. Can’t they come up with a better solution to this problem? I did a Google search. Many people are having this problem. The manufacturer even sells replacement felt, knowing this is a problem. If the scenario above is somewhat like what might happen, I will just buy the felt for about $60.00 and do it myself.
Luckily I have a service appointment tomorrow.
Oil Change
Safety recall Fire. Ford does not have the parts
Safety recall air bag. Dealer does not have the parts
Grabby Brakes. I was advised my truck does not have grabby brakes. No service advisory on my truck. Yes my brakes grab.
Harness replacement. Service advisor will do this.
Leaking tonneau cover. They will look into this.
Service advisor said any other service notifications will be taken care of.
It should be noted. I really like this truck. In all my years of owning cars and trucks, I have never had so many minor things go wrong with a truck. Yes I have also bought first year models of trucks and cars.
Hoping Ford fixes all my issues quickly.
