Lariat/BAP/Tremor tail lamp mod.

So I watched a video on YouTube and the created did a mod that was free and easy. So I did it myself and the results look sick. Reminds me of the Ram Laramie tail lamps which I’m a fan of.

I didn't know the brakes/turns illuminate with the DRL's. Will this work with the Lasfits as well?

I wouldn’t think so… (but I could see how)I’ve been running it like this since I took delivery and no issues yet. I see Ram and the new f-150s with this style.(picture attached) But I think if LEDs were to replace the DRL/brake/turn… I believe it wouldn’t. BUT… then you’d have to mod the bulb to eliminate the DRL ability @Montana

Sure can. I’ll do that here soon. The original YT video is linked in my OP but it also was difficult to understand. It was a trial and error for me to find which contact point to eliminate.

Depends on the bulbs. I will be posting a video soon on which contact point on the bulbs needs to be eliminated. There are 4 points. I have not tried this mod on the Lasfit bulbs because I haven’t ordered them. You will need to compare and see if it matches. If they do not match, you may need to mod with a small piece of electrical tape to block the contact. Will this work? No clue. This is where you can answer it for all of us. Lol

Really like this look - have definitely admired it on other vehicles. I do think it is naïve to say that Ford was too cheap to do a second harness and it's not about safety, etc. There are specific laws that dictate things like how much taillight area must be visible, etc. I think it's probably a lot more likely that it doesn't meet that guideline with the way Ford chose to design it. So it is possible that there could technically be an issue as really you are decreasing the amount of visible light. With that said, to my eyes it looks pretty visible and looks good.

i tried uploading a video but for some reason it will not let me upload. So please bear with me with the picture as will explain as best as possible.
TIP**
DO NOT lay the brake fixture direct on the tailgate NOR leaning against the brake lamp cut out (where it is installed). This WILL severely scratch the lamp and that will suck! Lay in something smooth. Okay.
Now lying the fixture down, make sure that the top is facing away from you.
remove the bulb socket and pull bulb out. It’ll be tight but it’ll come out. Make sure you look at the bulb (the plastic black part, make end) because it’s is designed to go into the socket one way. There will be a tap (seen in picture 1 & 2 with blue arrow). As you hold the bulb, make sure the tab is UP and the male end (black part) is facing you (like in the picture)
There are 4 contacts (marked in RED and yellow arrows)
The YELLOW arrow, is the one that needs to me cut or covered with electrical tape just to make sure it’s the correct one. Do this to all 4 rear bulbs and it’ll eliminate the rear DRL and the LEDs halos will take their place.

Like I said before, this could be a hazard but the LED halos are very bright. You are completely correct about the regulations that Ford had to follow. But think about this, Ford also recommends not to lift the vehicles, yet we do because WE LOVE to mod.

I cut them off with some needle nose pliers. Kinda just went left and right until it snapped off (make sense ?)
what I recommend for you is, cover the contact with some electrical tape FIRST. Install, turn park lights ON, turn hazards ON and see if it worked. This is to make sure that it is the same with your truck. (Keep in mind, idk how the electrical tape will hold with the heat of the bulb)
now as for the LEDS, yes, I’d def cover the contact point IF the contact point is welded.

don’t be like me… I cut 3 of the contact points and then realized that these bulbs ARE NIT readily available. So I had to super glue the pins back to the bulb… SUPER ghetto but I got them to work.
Please do. I bet it’ll look sooo SICK!

I did not know that these bults are hard to get?! Is that still true? Ive never heard of there being a shortage of basic taillight bulbs lol
