Tale of the Maverick Brothers..
This is a tale of two Mavericks, purchased days apart from the same salesman and dealership in Indiana.
Our story begins, at the annual Christmas party (December13th, 2022) that our Model Train railroad club does that I am a member of.
I had on the way to the party, just dropped off my deposit at the local Ford Dealer for the opportunity to place an order for a 2024 Maverick. At the party, I found out the one of our newest members, had just purchased a Maverick just days before. I discussed his purchase with him and two days later; I was able to purchase (email) the 2nd Maverick, an Area 51 that remained.
On a cool December morning, (December 17th 2022).
I pulled in the Ford dealerâs lot, in Lebanon, Indiana.
And there sat two 2022 Mavericks. One, Cactus/Fighter Jet Gray in color and an Area 51 Blue (which would become =âBluâ). I donât know it at that time, but the Gray Mav was Brysonâs and that he would not retrieve it for another two weeks.
The Mavâs were identical twins, purchased for dealersâ stock and both were XLâs with the only âoptional equipmentâ being the Ecoboost engine. A â$435â dollar extra, at the time of order.
After an hoursâ worth of processing, I started my â250 mileâ trip back home...
On to early June..
It is usually at this time that the planning of our Clubâs annual picnic (to the Rochelle Railroad Park) starts. One of our members pointed out the possibly of a Maverick "Reunionâ and joked that since they were alike, started to call them "Brothers".
And the term âMaverick Brothersâ stuck..
Fast forward to yesterday, July 15th, 2023 and the Brothers meet again.
The brothers had taken different paths over the last 221 days.
Bryson had put-on 17,000 miles in his travels. Had added New Wheels (Bronco Sports) and installed âCruise Controlâ.
On the downside, he had a âTurkey Strikeâ which messed up the right headlight and fender. It didnât look like much, but the cost was figured to about $2000 to repair.
On Blu, (with my job relocation) has only put-on 2787.9 miles in the same time period.
I have added a few options. (Tonneau, Cubby, Shortly Antenna and 12volt/USB ports) and my âTransit-styleâ wheel caps.
My only downside, are a few scratches in the bed, from moving a metal cabinet.
As we were discussing our additions to our trucks, I showed him the âOreo Thinsâ promotional âMaverick manualâ cookie package, that I had acquired. To go, with the Maverick-theme of things. (I actually had found two of them.) When, he left I gave him the package..
And now the Brothers' each have, an âManualâ in their glove boxes...
The pair did get look-sees from otherâs there at the park. And one of our memberâs joked that we were trying to make them, into âXLTsâ.
All-in-all, it was a fun addition to our club picnic and an interesting view on how we, âModâ our Mavericksâ in different ways..
Now, we are just waiting for the 1/64th-scale additions to arrive..
To Be Continued....
(Yes, I am parked in a Handicapped zone. I volunteered to âChauffeurâ three of our eldest members to the park. One of these members, who can still drive, brought along his mirror tag to help me facilitate this. Everyone managed the trip well and commented on how smooth the Maverickâs ride was.)
