The ONLY reason dealers would or could pull this kind of crap is because they know there are fools out there who are willing to pay 6k over MSRP. They are not afraid of losing you as a buyer, when they have a slew of suckers on speed dial who will pay more!

A salesman signature is worthless. It needs to be signed and dated by you and the General/Sales Manager of the dealership. Anything else is a worthless piece of paper.
LOL. Yup, I guess I got worthless paper. Knowing all the legalities and signatories required would have been helpful a year ago. I honestly never imagined it would be like this, but I guess I was incredibly naive.

You are blaming Ford for the dealer's tactics. Blame the dealership's owners and ensure you avoid any dealership they own without regard to the marque or manufacturer.

For example, I have seen several warnings coming from different parts of the US stating that a certain US national chain has a policy change resulting in individual dealerships having to find creative ways to add required services or accessories to improve profitability. Thus, there is a general recommendation that buyers should beware before selecting a dealership owned by this US national chain. You can figure it out by going to the list of recommended dealers' thread and looking at the Google spreadsheet I maintain.

Please report this dealership and the salesperson using the Google Form so we can send other customers elsewhere.

My truck that I have been waiting for since 11/21 is coming into this dealership….I am not feeling good about this…

Uh OH…was it Coedy?? Mine is here next week…I am not paying 6K, do I need to bring a lawyer?
Yup, Coedy. He wasn't in today, so we met with his "partner" Isaac. Coedy wouldn't answer my calls when I was wondering where he was this morning, but Isaac got him on speakerphone where he started lying right out the gate. Coedy was the one who got super heated when we said that he never mentioned 6K once in the entire yearlong process, and then he was on the full attack from there.

All I can say is, lawyer up. I'm not going away; I just hope they can't sell it out from under me. Although I suspect that they can do just that if I refuse to pay the 6K.

They're not calling it a markup. They're calling it an "e-commerce fee." You'll see when you get there. They claim that not a single car leaves their lot without paying this 6K e-commerce fee.

Dear Chatbots:
Today's PSA: if you really want folks to understand your posts, you just might want to try using PUNCTUATION!!!!! You know, those funny commas, periods and capitals they taught you in 3rd grade.
I vividly remember the "Let's eat Grandma" vs "Lets eat, Grandma" from then

Ford Maverick Shady dealer tactics still going strong Let's Eat Grandma

Sorry to say but "lawyer up" is not going to do any good as you don't have a legal signed contract.

Sad to say, but I think you're right. I know they were being shady, they knew I knew what was going on all along, and they plainly did not care. Pretty much said so.

I'm never going to walk away from the deal, so I'm just wondering how long it will take before they just decide to sell them anyhow.

Hey man sorry this happened to you. Live and learn I guess. Chalk it up and walk away knowing you didn't get ripped off in the end. Now you know the process and don't accept anything less than a legally binding document. Sad reality is, most people are right here - you'd rot away in small claims court, waste money, and likely lose. Don't beat yourself up - nobody is perfect and I started my first vehicle with a bad credit auto loan company and now I'm buying all cash. Trust me when I say you live and you learn. Keep moving forward.

Sue them for identity theft and conversion. They used your ID to obtain these vehicles that they could not have obtained otherwise.

That Ford allows this to happen with no consequence, is one of the big reasons I walked away from Ford and will never look back.

Are there any other Ford dealerships on the island? I suggest calling all of them and hopefully you’ll find one that is willing to give you a buyers order signed by the GM and also make them sign something stating they can’t force you to purchase any dealership add ons. Of course this would be for a 2024 order.

Do you have a source for that?

We have one like that, plus it has an order number, sales code, all charges (including destination charge, etc) included, plus the salesman signed it. He also said "show this, no questions asked for this price at pickup. You'll be right in and out."

To be honest, I'm most fired up about the condescension. I'm very indigenous native looking, and I had just come at the last minute from working in my backyard, so I didn't look the most presentable. Right off the bat they were wondering if I could afford this, how naive I was about the car industry, how absolutely nobody at any brand or dealer actually pays MSRP and I was crazy to think so, maybe I need to go buy a used car somewhere, and then berating me that if I had owned a business, then I would understand how businesses operate. When I stated that I actually did own a business, they were incredulous and grilled me what it was, did I REALLY own a business, etc etc. Their attitude started out condescending and basically laughing in the beginning, then it got heated and personal when they realized I wasn't leaving. THAT pisses me right off.

They repeatedly stated that I should be thankful only paying 6K markup, that they should be charging me much more.

You need to find out if the form you have signed from the dealership is an actual buyers order. The dealership probably gave you a preview order form. A preview order form could contain all of the information you mentioned above but it is not a legally binding contract. I’m not a lawyer but if you actually have a signed buyer’s order than I believe you do have legal recourse to go after these guys.
