Ford Maverick Under Grill/bumper air dam removal ? 1644071397707

Has anybody experimented with removing these fangs from the front bumper? Im sure it will affect mpg, but not sure if anything else.

Also could even go further but not sure how clean it would look. Someone else tried anything yet?

I think the only thing that would be worth doing for mpg is a tune or a tonneau cover. The tunes on panda auto’s website says it gives you a. 20% gain and a tonneau cover will give you a 1 mpg difference

Many have removed the flaps in part one of your question. They’re easily removed with 4 screws each and any mpg loss that there may be would be so negligible I don’t think one would tell.

The piece in part two of your question is not a separate piece. It is integrated into the bumper and would require cutting. I’ve not seen anyone that bold thus far.

That part just seems to be the lowest part of the vehicle. trying to keep things flush with skidplates. I think it just looks very low to the groud and not needed, especially the fangs.

Fangs can easily be removed from what others have said, and would give you another inch or two before scraping a curb ;) Look at an F150: front air dam is huge ;)

It's no Maverick but with a Tonneau cover on my Colorado I'm getting 24MPG average compared with 20 without

I got the Racechip tune and it claims the same things. Seems legit, extra torque. Yep, I got a soft trifold gator tonneau for the 1 extra mpg also.

That is impossible, there is test irregularities here.

As for the OPs question, cut em or just let the parking curbs do it for you for the next 5 years.

Thanks, Yea I just looked and alot of people took theirs off of the f150, it is huge on that truck. Im coming from a GMC Sierra and the manual said removing the airdam could cause overheating issues so I never did, but I dont see how it will.

did you have the gmc canyon? i had the colorado which is basically the same thing and i took it off no problems with overheating at all. ill eventually take these off from the mav, probably once summer hits and take it to the lake on some trails and whatnot

lol yes, you just screw it off whatever that can possibly be removed, not complicated.

I have a sharp transition from my driveway to the street and so when I take delivery and nose-plant it a few times I'll let you know how it looks. :sneaky:

By all means remove them.

As usual, what do the Ford engineers know?
They probably just put those things on because they had some extra plastic lying around.

Moving onto some on topic helpful posts...

Make sure you tidy up the connection to the carpet liner so you don't have any flapping at higher speed. Couple holes and some poor man handcuffs... Er... Zip ties will do.

Id still like to cover those holes though. Solutions anyone? I may end up trying a flat piece of rubber on the inside and sealing it in there.
