Front collision sensor programming after bumper removal. Is it needed?

I have a Lariat lux that needs the front bumper repainted thanks to an airhead driver while I was parked. Both shops estimating the repair said the front sensor may need to be recalibrated after bumper R&R but did not know for sure. So I now have 2 "open" estimates for similar money to choose between. Anyone know if recalibration is needed or if its just a plug it back in and go part?
