This came up in another thread. If you want all information available to Ford technicians you can buy a subscription for 21.95 for 72 hour access ( longer times available for more $$ ) to the Motorcraft site. https://www.motorcraftservice.com/

This gives you :
All Vehicle Lines subscription includes the following information:
  • Workshop Manual
  • Wiring Diagram Manual (also referred to as EVTMs or Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals)
  • Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual
  • TSBs('94-Present)
  • Dealer bulletins for Field Service Actions (Recalls) ('88-Present) where available and applicable.
  • Access to the latest calibration information for emission-related modules.
  • Access to Vehicle Specific Information (available for last 10 model years)
  • Limited Vehicle Line coverage for 1994-Present model years.
Ive used this many times in the past in my locksmith business and its pretty comprehensive.

I don't know if its against the rules to post or not, but I've shared the nearly 14,000 page ~550mb service manual PDF via DM to a number of members here. I don't recall where I found it, but happy to share if anyone needs it.

edit: the manual I have is for the ecoboost. I am sure there are many similarities to the hybrid, part numbers, etc. so any hybrid owners are welcome to it; just know that its an EB service manual.

Tesla vibes that we have to pay for a manual that should come with the truck.

Anyone tried to crack it and download with permanent free access?
I don't agree with that and this is nothing new. Before the internet in the 1970's and 1980's if we wanted the repair manual we had to purchase the physical book from Ford. There were also aftermarket repair manuals that one could purchase instead. Not everything is intended to be free.

This makes no sense. So because you paid for it long ago, it shouldn't be included in right to repair now and it should be a premium for anyone who wants to repair/maintain their own vehicle? What a stupid outlook.

I have a copy.
But it's not very user friendly.
You can search for every occurrence of the word "heater" for example, but when you get 447 hits, I end up browsing them all more or less.
🤷🏻‍♂️

Clearly you missed my point which really had nothing to do with the cost long ago. I was using that as an example. The point was that not everything should be free. I'm guessing you're a millennial who expects everything to be done for them and everything should be free to you. Sure it would be nice if it was included for free but I can't see how they should be required to do that. The owners manual for example, yes that should be included with every vehicle.

Agree.
I've never heard of a repair/shop manual be included with anything let alone a vehicle.
In fact many manufacturers go through lengths to limit distribution only to certified service facilities. Haynes and Chilton have built an industry off of providing common sense service instructions to the regular consumer.
I think we may be confusing this with the owners manual?

Ford Maverick Ford Maverick Factory Repair Manual giphy

Wow dude. Way to make yourself look like an a-hole with the assumptions.

I do all my own work, especially to my vehicles. I don't expect anything from anyone. It's a 10's of thousands dollar investment and they want to charge hundreds more for a manual.

Maybe you need to do some research into right to repair. It's incredibly stupid to not support a service manual being free, especially when it's a .pdf. Now if someone wanted to pay for a paper one? I can see that costing the same price as a Haynes manual - but hundreds of dollars? Ludicrous. I'd even be willing to pay $10 for a .pdf if they needed proof of ownership - which they should not - but it still doesn't change the fact that we should not have to.

There is no good reason why this should not be free. I love how some of you justify the lengths these manufactures go to just to keep people from servicing their own investments. Get the eff outta here with that crap. This is why nothing lasts now days. You BOOMERS should be all for it (how do you like it?). You all complain about things being cheaply made, poorly produced, not well serviced, etc etc "back in my days, customer service was with a smile"... and then you attempt to justify a company withholding a service manual and charging hundreds for it on top of a 10's of thousands of dollar investment so people can't do their own work?

Please... continue your cringe hypocritic justification of it. I'm out, and I'll be ignoring idiotic users of this forum that say things like "common sense" and "I bet you expect everything given to you". Bish, I live in rural Montana... aint nobody giving me shhhh. I'm a self sufficient OIF/OEF vet that knows where problems lie, and it's with the mentality you have projected on this forum. How's that for service with a smile?

I respect your opinion, but paying $21.95 for 72 hours of access to the manual is BS. Charge a reasonable flat fee and provide a permanent working copy of the manual.

100% agree with you on that. I'm not sure what they're reason is for the exorbitant cost. It should be a flat fee.

If anyone wants the service manual for the Ecoboost, contact me. It's too big to upload on this site.
I'm not quite old enough to be a boomer. I'm well aware of right to repair and I agree with right to repair. But that has little to do with whether or not everything should be free. When I was growing up we always had right to repair, way before all this proprietary mess the manufacturers are now pushing. But that didn't mean everything we needed was free. Anyway, we can argue all day and get no where. And as I said to the other poster, I completely agree it should be a one time fee for the factory service manual and not a rental cost.

Sounds fair enough and honestly I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm an easy going person myself and don't like to argue with people. I probably could have chosen better words. I hope you have a good evening!

Charging a shop big bucks for manual sorts of makes sense, since that's part of their business expenses and the shop will hopefully make the money back.

But for DIY guys I don't see why the manual shouldn't be free. I'm not going to Ford dealers for service outside warranty whether with or without the manual.
