I currently have the trifold cover on my 22 but those pull down latches are a real pain for a petite woman so I want an easier to open cover for my 23 which should arrive in the next 6 weeks. I can’t decide between the BAK/REV trifold and the roll-up so I’m hoping to get some helpful feedback from MTC members (or the wives) 🤞🏻

I’m pretty sure both have the wire pull to latch and unlatch the cover at the tailgate which I’m hoping will be easier. Otherwise I probably need to start lifting heavy weights before my 23 arrives!

Hello, I have a BAK MX4 with the wire pulls and don't believe you'll have any problem with it. It doesn't take much effort and there are no odd angles to pull...

If you can easily pull the tailgate handle you should have no problem with the wire latches.

good luck...

It takes about the same effort as pulling the tailgate handle.

Thank you! May I ask the reason(s) you decided on the trifold and what you might dislike about it?

I have Retrax Pro roll-up hard covers on my other trucks, I consider them the best. On my Maverick I didn't want to lose any bed space with the roll-up canister so i chose the Tri-fold hard MX4. It works and fits well, but they (like almost all covers) do allow a little water in occasionally, probably best measured in drops vs ozs or cups..

My 23 has shipped and I'll move this cover from my '22 to my '23.

good luck

I’m definitely not going to try to transfer that other cover to my new truck! Sounds like both of ours got built around the same time👍🏻

If I had it to do over again, and exclusive of cost, I'd still purchase the BAK MX4.

good luck!

I had the truxedo x15 for my ridgeline. It was fantastic and still easy enough to take off when I didn’t need it for extended periods. Little more costly but super easy to operate.
I’m thinking of the gator sfx trifold now though, I only need the tonneau when I travel, roll up still take space in the tiny bed. Plus it’s cheap

It’s a nice looking top. I will want to have it on all the time. Does it flap in the wind? The Gator SFX looks like the Ford one that came on my 22 and has the same pull down gizmo which is too hard for me to use.

I bought the Tuxedo Sentry hard roll-up tonneau cover. About $1,000 but sturdy, secure & looks great. Easy to roll & unroll with one hand. No wasted space like a trifold. Could also get a soft roll-up tonneau cover, lot cheaper.

Thank you! I really like that cover! It looks like the only difference between the CT and Sentry is matte black? Which one did you get and how does it look?

I looked at all the pictures and video and could not see what the latch at the tailgate looks like. Could you post a pic when you have a chance? Is it easy to unlatch?

I got the factory hard roll-up cover when I purchased mine. Simple to use and, if you are not parked on an incline, can open as little or as much as you want. This was the best choice for me and I would make it again.

I have the rollup and it sucks. I also have a trifold on my other Maverick. Your right it is not easy to latch. I have seen another trifold off of ebay that has good easy to use latches.

Any chance you have any pictures and the latch?

Thank you! I was really beginning to think I’m a major wimp for having such a hard time with the latch😖 Do you know the brand of the one on eBay?
