You don't need to fold down your rear seat if you get a padded pet mat that hangs on front and rear seat headrests forming a flat" U shaped surface such that stuff can't fall between the cracks. I purchased mine on Amazon for $40 USD. I carry my tools on the rear seat mat. There is access to the rear seat footwell for more storage completely out of sight. Folding the seatback down will increase the noise in the cabin. Plus you will expose wiring that could be damaged by cargo.

I was looking for this same thing - might have been my post you saw with a pic of the actual Ram one (my BIL has a Ram 1500 and that tray making a flat area in the backseat is the only thing good about it). Hoping someone comes up with something.
That could have been it. I could have sworn I saw a post where someone made one out of plywood for their Maverick and covered it with material like the Rams have. I remembered thinking "oh neat, I should save this for when mine comes in" but I unfortunately didn't.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about removing the rear seat completely, whenever I get my truck(scheduled for July). I'm a copier technician, and I keep a lot of parts in my vehicle. I almost never have passengers, and I've removed the back seat on my previous cars too. All of that stuff on the back wall does give me pause, and I've got to figure out how I'm going to do a proper sub enclosure as well. As much time as I spend driving, my tunes have to sound good
It just seems to me that back seat takes up a lot of useable space, if I'm not going to have passengers. It would be really awesome of Ford or the aftermarket could come with a rear seat delete kit that cleans things up back there if the seat were removed.There’s way too many electronics behind the back seat to even take a chance on folding it down.
I am going to the market as soon as I finish this reply. I use a 2x8, cut to the width of the bed and put it in the last pocket in the bed to keep the grocery bags and a cooler from spreading the width of the bed. I have a quilted frozen foods bag set which keep frozen things frozen and a cooler for perishable vegs and fruit. It is sunny and about 90 degrees right now but I have been shopping on 100+ days and have yet to have an issue with food spoiling. Unloading the cab is much more difficult than unloading the last 20 " of the bed.
I was just thinking a covered piece of ply for the back wall as well as the bottom and hinge it where they meet so the rear stuff can be accessible if needed as well. Looks like you could remove all of the seat belt hardware and it will all be pretty flush behind the new panel. I have no need for subs so for me at least it's a non issue. Too many years of loud tractors, straight piped muscle cars, and shooting without ear plugs has wrecked my hearing anyways. I'm a sound quality guy, and don't care if everyone else hears it. That being said, there's no getting around the need for a good sub for quality sound. I love my music, so it is one of the things I enjoy most with all of my driving. It drives me nuts when it just doesn't sound good. I also have a love for all of the things you mentioned, which brings me to another thing. The ability to stow gun cases in the back is also a necessity for me when not working. The dog insists on riding shotgun, so the back is storage only. The plywood(or other material) is a good idea, if it can be executed properly and cleanly. I agree on the hinged setup too. Being mine will be a hybrid, I will still need to be able to access the battery etc.. Of course, sound deadening will be applied to the back wall first. That should make a significant difference in the noise in the cabin.
I took the stupid seat out completely and stored it in the attic, then built an awesome storage area where the seat was. I used the jack attachment studs to anchor the back and the pockets that anchor the seat bottom and used a threaded cross bolt to secure the front, built it out if 7/16 osb, I bought 18# gas struts for the lids. The seat is poorly designed and gobbles up too much room.
