My sales man called me yesterday to offer me a Hybrid lariat that I guess the original customer backed out on.
It is white, and has the lux package, hitch, moonroof, roll up bed cover, spray in liner, co pilot, tailgate lock and console vault.
MSRP is $36,585 and they originally had a mark up of $7500, but agreed to lower that to $5000 for me.
I was mighty tempted to jump on it. I really want a different color, and the BAP, and really have no interest in the moon roof or a few of the options like the bed cover and vault....
I despise the thought of paying over sticker price, especially since I have X plan for my original order which saves me $700 on the DOC fee and several hundred off the sticker price as well. My build on my order has a MSRP of $35,275 before X plan discounting. So even if they sold me this truck at MSRP, This truck would be close to $2500 out the door, more than how much my truck would cost if my ordered truck ever got built. So I would be paying $5000 in mark up and $2500 more between DOC fees and no X plan discounting and the extra for things I don't care about like the moon roof etc... PLUS I really want the BAP Package as I do not like the look of the blue and brown seats in the lariat... So I would be paying $7500 more for a truck that isn't exactly what I want.
But after reading the comments in a thread I started asking why some folks were willing to pay over, and seeing what places like Carvana and Carmax is offering for used mavericks at the moment, it seems like I COULD buy this and pay 5 over and still break even if I sold it to them in the near future once my maverick is built.... So I was about to tell my salesman to go ahead and write up the deal... But asked the wife for her blessing and she was 100 percent NOT on board with it. She hasn't followed the whole maverick thing like I have and I don't think she is well educated on the current market on these trucks, but regardless she just see's the idea of paying 5 grand over as stupid and wasteful and a sign of impatience. If I went to the dealer today and picked up that truck I would be deep in the doghouse with her and its not worth it to me!
So if any of you all want a hybrid lariat, call Mark Ficken Ford in charlotte NC and ask for Ian Alves. Not sure how long this truck will last before it is sold. Good luck!
