I live in CA (not Ca Canada) but will be visiting many areas of B.C. this summer, driving all the way into Alaska and Yukon Territory. One reason I got a Maverick Hybrid and not an EV was to go to remote places.

I have the very Dark almost Black Alto Blue. The back windows look great on this dark truck with the factory tint, but the front windows look really out of place in their natural state.

Also in mostly hot California I could benefit from some heat rejection by additional tint.

Will I be hassled by the local Constables in B.C., Y.T. or Alberta if I front tinted windows that match the rear?

I've not yet had the tint done. I would like to do it before summer vacation, I'm driving 5000 miles around Canada and Alaska. But could wait if there is a large reason to wait.

About 20% of Californians tint their front side windows. No one hassles them about it if they are courteous drivers.

In Vancouver our cops have basically given up on enforcing the law in regards to traffic, drugs, public alcohol consumption, to some regard theft (list meant for humour, but also not really joking). If you drive chill you should be good! Not sure about the RCMP in smaller towns though.

I say if in doubt go without until you return. They don’t have the sun like we have and may not understand. Plus to them it may appear that you’re trying to hide something.

IDK but when I travel out of country I try to do what I can to not get noticed.. your call..

It’s funny because front tint is illegal in Cali too but I see cop cars with limo tint all the time LOL. Yes they will give you trouble I’m a BC native and small town RCMP will definitely harass you.

In many US states front side windows can be tinted to 35% which is a lighter tint with people still visible from outside but still heat reducing from summer sun. Might be the way to go. Any tint shop will know about that.

If your vehicle is insured out of province and you are visiting, the offence does not apply to you. You are not expected to remove your tint as you travel throughout any province.

Sounds completely reasonable.
However in 'Merica usually laws are inflexible. They tend to target out of towners. You can pay the fine or show up in court to contest it.... in 60 to 90 days from now. They know you won't be there in 90 days if you were just passing through or there on vacation.

I live in between 2 provinces.... one tint is ignored the other it's not.

If I see a cop in the not cool city I just roll down the windows lol

I would bet with Cali tags they will let you fly... the tint fine here is less than $100 CAD or $70 USD
