Well I predicted the truck would be toast. Could have been worse - My first shot at remove and replace the "cooling module" as Ford would call it. Next video will be a better DIY at repair as I have learned much about the way Ford designed this front end to be dis- assembled. Hint - it is from the bottom .

Bummer! about the wrecked Maverick! I Watched your video and am super impressed on the depth of the projected repairs. I agree with your train of thought about keeping the wreck away from the dealer etc. Best of Luck and I look forward to part 2 of the progress!

Thank you ! Another really cool thing I found out is that the refrigerant cost about $40 a can and it takes 2.3 cans if it's empty. In addition to that more adapters are required and different oil. The crazy thing is if you're trying to put in something yourself like a radiator or a secondary radiator or something like that you have to take the air conditioning system down and I don't know how many people have a reclaimer but that adds a lot to the cost if you're just having to put in more refrigerant.

I believe AC system needs to be vacuumed before filling, at least that's how house AC systems work. Otherwise the moisture and refrigerant oil can become corrosive and cause long-term problems.

Curious how high you have to jack up the truck to replace radiators? I replaced the radiator on my old ranger and it's a quick job, slide out from the top and slide back in.

Active shutters was the first thing I deleted from my Mustang. They were just in the way.

Yeah I had found the capacity - what's awesome is they are 8 oz cans and 17.6 is required. Would have been nice if Ford had engineered it for 16 oz rather than 2.3 cans hahahaha

This is true, dealerships buy it by the 10lb cylinders and sell it by the ounce.

Looks like they use the new stuff (R-1234). From what I read you can actually use R134 and corresponding oil in those systems. Much cheaper

It's possible that the South American models have a different compressor, but I am not sure.

Ive read that too - the pressures are slightly different - Id probably go that route after its out of warranty. At this point another 100.00 in refrigerant isnt going to kill me - LOL :)

Id rather they were deleted on the Maverick in a different way hahahahaha. They do help with a hybrid more than a total ice engine to help get to temp.
