my maverick got backed into yall. I’m trying to decide what to do. It’s really not bad at all but I’m not sure how bad and unfortunately this came at a really bad time. Pretty much I’m thinking about not filling a claim and wondering if that’s a mistake. I also mildly concerned that my insurance premium will go up, as well as the premium of the person who backed into me, and that it will be a lose lose situation all around save for the insurance companies. This is the first new vehicle I’ve ever owned and thus the first vehicle I really care about.

what do y’all think?
Thanks

It's your truck, your choice. Personally I'd want it fixed, because that kind of damage would bug me. Not sure why your rates would go up, when you aren't at fault. As for the other person, don't make their problem your problem, again just my point of view on the matter. If they cannot afford it, they should drive more carefully.

I agree with icegradner. Your truck deserves the repair, and you'll feel better about the first vehicle you've cared about. I don't see how your rates would go up, but, of course, I don't trust insurance companies. But you should get it fixed.

Looks like they would be a somewhat easy fix. The little ones by the side marker light could be fixed with touch up paint and rub out the scratches. The other one on the bumper could possibly be heated up and brought back to shape. That would need sanding, priming, and paint. I would get some advise from some local body shops and maybe a quote or three. Then decide if you want to claim on insurance or just pay the cash.

You're insurance rates should not go up unless you make a claim on your insurance, if you make a claim, make it on their insurance.

Totalled….. want to sale your rims? Do get that fixed. I had a minor ding like that on my first college ride and did nothing, became a rust problem when I finally got concerned and took it for someone to repair it was more than the value of the car, too much bondo to fill the area after they located good metal.

I got a quote for $1,900. While it’s not as bad as an R1T it still seems super expensive

First claim usually doesn’t raise rates, everything after they got you to stay, will.
They generally go with whatever you say happens, Insurance will also give you guidelines on how to exchange info and when to notify them, so not a big cost to them if that was the damage.
Good learning experience, dealing with insurance still bothers me and I worked for my insurance company as a contractor for years.

Repair rates are oddly high across the board. A paint transfer, cracked taillight, and two busted bulbs was originally just under 1000, before noticed the cracked taillight & safety inspection found the bulbs out months later. 2K sounds resonable.

I’d get if fixed. That’s what insurance is for. Your rates may not go up much if your record is clean and no event claims.

Prep area find good two step touchup paint. The horizontal paint loss should be primered then paint coated to reduce corrosion effects. Water running off truck will collect there and corrosion will occur faster.
Also good area to practice touchup paint if you go that route ( I would ) takes more than a few tries to get right even when you follow touchup paint directions perfectly.

The front face bar cover alone is over $400, if the impact bar behind it is buckled that's another $450 there are lamps and brackets that might be ok but add labor to remove/install and paint and you can add another $1,000. What is your deductible? If someone else is at fault, your policy rates should not be affected, even if you chose to go under your own policy. Don't worry about the other party's rates going up (unless they're your BF/GF/KIDS). If you don't fix it will cost you when you go to sell or trade it and the prices will be higher. You have an obligation to notify your ins agent, ins co and possibly your bank (if they hold the title) in a timely fashion, not later than 1 year after the occurrence or they don't owe you anything. It is new, keep it "like new", you won't regret it. But what do I know, I've never slept in a Holiday Inn Express but I did 40 years as an insurance investigator.

You know who hit you? what's to think about have their company look at the damage and pay you don't have to have your company pay for it , why pay your deductible 500/1000?you can report it was the vehicle parked, your not at fault. This is not something you can fix and PLASTIC parts dont rust, its going to take months to get the parts so contact the other insurance company directly and have them pay you . Listen to RLmesc . I have 40 years in a dealers body shop and 8 years with a major insurance company. Fix it and have THEM pay.
